Web Hosting Provider problems?

  • So why is the website so slow? It's been painful to access this site the last 6 months or more. Is this a money issue? Why can't the web host be changed to a more reliable/quicker one? Participation is dropping off at an alarming rate.

  • I have also noticed this for some time now. Thought it was something lacking in my computer or server. Sometimes I just give up looking at anything on this forum, and go on to something else. However, this morning it is working more quickly than I have experienced it in months. Maybe all is once again well. I hope so!

  • Hank is in the process of moving he site to a new Server. This make take a couple of days, but I see an improvement already. Please bear with us and the site should get back to opearating smoothly as it has before this fiasco. Thanks for your patience...

  • Yes, it appears quicker today. I noticed some database messages last night when I couldn't access it.

It had pretty much become the norm that I would click the hpmx bookmark I have and then go to another browser and do something else while I was waiting for hpmx to come up. Click on a forum, go to another window, click on a thread, go to another window.

Hopefully things will be better now!

Quite right. Wow! What a difference! Thanks!

  • I had the same experiences as Charles did with doing other things while the pages opened. I am very happy to see that the site is now working well.

  • My apologies to all. Hopefully the new host will meet our needs. The previous host kept promising to resolve the issues and I was hoping a transfer wouldn't be necessary.

We’ve been collecting images for over 4 years and have amassed quite the collection. There is over 4000 images, over 4700 files total, and 630+MB. I was up till 1am last night and started again this morning.

It took about 8 hrs total to get it to where we are now and I'm not sure I'm done yet. I'm not looking for sympathy or an attaboy. I just wanted everyone to understand why I was reluctant to swap hosts knowing the amount of effort it would take to upload all those images.

  • Thanks for your efforts Hank. The site is blazing fast right now!

  • Hank,

Thanks! The switch was much needed and greatly appreciated. This mornings time on this site was the most enjoyable time in quite a while. Thanks again!

  • Zounds what a difference in access speed. I'm still using dial-up in which speed is akin to watching grass grow. What a difference now. Thanks!!
