Dearborn reset the unit numbers at 250001 for '65 production, which included the introduction of the fastback body. The 102100 unit number is most likely incorrect or a fake stamp.

It's possible for the "F" to look like an "R" which may have been the mistake of the person selling it on ebay in 2013. But you are correct, I don't have any other 5F09K vins in my database that have a "1" after the "K".

Even if an R, it still wouldn't be a valid unit number for a San Jose fastback since the sequence reset to 125001 for alternator production cars. There were no regular production 09 body style 64.5's for either Dearborn or San Jose.

Recently restored '65 K code 4100 carburetor, just finished this week. C4OF-AL stamped on the base, original C5OF-L tag. All original parts restored, only the rebuild kit is aftermarket. Correct 'M' primary booster and 'BA' secondary. 52 primary jets and 68 secondary. Dry float setting for both primary/secondary at 29/64".

The carb was cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner, nothing blasted. Retains the smooth original finish.

Has not been bench run, but should be very close to factory settings. Asking $3500, which includes insured shipping to US address.

    Some items we're looking for:

-A better 3939S fuel pump, with a cleaner crimped band, or NOS? Should be dated Aug-Sept '64.

-NOS fuel pump filter canister with no blems or minimal. The one on 003 has some chips/wear.

-NOS or very nice original tail light wiring harness. 65 style, fastback with no back-up lamp wiring.

-Original serge edge carpet pieces glued to bottom of large fastback rear panels, can dye black if needed.

-Original 9" 3.50:1 rear end tag, dated Aug/Sept/Oct '64. This will most likely be a display item (WCZ-H 3.50 with 921)

-Original CCC decal for front headlight wiring harness or would buy an NOS harness, should have yellow horn wires

-Correct T10 NOS rear tail shaft bushing/seal.

-NOS or very nice original hood to cowl seal. Ok if nice original is slightly wavy.

-NOS or original trunk lid seal. Has to be open style, the -A version

-Pair of NOS door lock knob grommets

-Very nice original pair of front seat back panels. Prefer black, but will take other colors.

-NOS or very nice original wiper arms, Trico. Early style, non-flared chrome base with stainless arms. Only need arms, have blades

-Rust free, non-pitted original 65-66 rear shock plates

-Rust-free, non-pitted original 65 rear shackles. Normal style, not staggered.

Thanks Fred. What are the San Jose blocks you have that pre-date what I initially posted? Might be interested in something in the Aug/Sept range. Just think it would be nice to have an original block. Would just need the bare block, have everything else.

Let me know $$ on the 289 emblems in a PM.

Probably a long shot, but would like to find a 65 hi-po block, San Jose K code VIN somewhere in the 145xxx-155xxx range. Can be any body style VIN, fastback one would be ideal.

Also looking for an original pair of handling package front coil springs for a '65 K code fastback, preferably without rust

Other misc items for a late October '64 San Jose car:

-NOS 65 dashpad, black (or very nice original)
-NOS 65-66 door lock knob grommets
-NOS or very nice original trunk latch with 4J date
-Nice original ground cable from firewall to block
-NOS or nice original negative battery cable, C4ZF markings
-NOS or nice used hi-po alternator belt
-NOS rear brake hose with Q3/Q4 of 64 date (would consider later)
-NOS V8 manual steering idler arm

Also need a pair of NOS 289 fender emblems
