I need to replace the battery cables on my GT-350. It has a stock HiPo 289. The battery is in its correct location. I remember replacing them in the late 1980s with the correct size but the positive cable got very hot. My Dad replaced it with very heavy gauge cable. I dont know what size it is. What size gauge do you all recommend for both the positive and negative cable? Thanks

My '67 GT350 has the Ford VIN stamped on the bottom of the transmission. As for the block, I don't know. I have owed this car since 1982 and I could never find the VIN on the block. The car was always on jack stands whenever I tried to find it and its hard to see. I never had the engine out of the car to take a closer look. Monty

I have an warranty card (somewhere) for a 1966 A code that I bought from the original owner in 1982. If I'm not mistaken, isn't it the size of a credit card? I can only hope to find where I stored it! Monty
You may want to check to bottom of the transmission. My four speed GT 350 has the Ford vin stamped on it. I have seen the hand stamped Shelby vin that is located on the passenger side apron stamped different ways- straight or crooked or lightly stamped. Hi Mike, I think I know you. When I worked up North in the later 1980s, I briefly joined a Long Island Mustang club. The monthly meetings were held at a diner in a town I think called Farmingdale. I remember two brothers with a 1965 and 66 gt350 and Bill A. who had a pristine 1967 gt350. Do you recollect someone at Daytona International Speedway coming up to you after a drivers meeting (next to the old NASCAR garage area) at a HSR event asking if you were Mike ****** from the Long Island club?
