Sorry for the delay. My email client forgot all my email address's. Had to go through setup again. The date code on the tail shaft is "B 2". The date code on the case is kind of hard to read, appears to me as " D 1". The "B" on the BX tag is hard to read, but it's there, just hard to read. Send me your email address and I'll send pics. Thanks

I've been contacted regarding getting copies of The 289 High-Performance Mustang, 4th Edition book. Tony Branda bought the last of my supply, so he has books.

Marv,
I prefer a rebuildable tested set of non TE heads for this application. I have several feelers out. The manifold date code will not work. Thanks for letting know what you have. Push comes to shove I might pull the trigger on the rebuilt set for $2400.
Part of the rebuilding process is testing the heads? -
Yes Fred, the ‘67 Non-TE heads have the extra material by the top left of the Exhaust port. I’ve seen different types of plugs in the TE heads. Some are recessed and use a common screwdriver and other are protruding above the port and are hex shaped.Fred, even though the heads are C7 castings, on the block side, in the middle, there is a “289” and a “65” underneath it.

In regards to the HEH-T transmission, the old forum had many VIN stamped transmissions in Kars as late as May 1965. My personal belief is that the Ford MPC listing on this is in error.

I agree Fred

Jeff, It appears that Marv has a good fan candidate for you if you determine that you need an actual Hipo type fan:

o HEH-S, 5 Bolt $1500.

o HEH-T, 6-Bolt, $1600.
Used from August 20, 1964 to October 1, 1964 per Ford Master Parts Catalog. But many owners reported in the past that their original car had the HEH-T well past that date. Some think, it might have ran through the 1965 model year.o HEH-BX, 1966 model year, REBUILT, $2200.

Marv,
Just out of curiosity, are both sets of head castings C5OE? I at one time had a C5OE casting that I believe had a 67 on it somewhere in the rocker area as it was a 67 model year date code and it was NOS. It was a non T/E head.
-Fred-
No Fred, all the '67s are C7 castings -
I have a one set of 67 HiPo Heads and maybe another set, plus one 67 Drivers Side Exhaust Manifold. I'll get over to the shop and gets the dates to you later.

Yes Fred, I think that is the fan I need from the little research I have done so far. Hopefully I can find some of these goodies for the car. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks Marv, I understand the date codes. I was curious how far prior to my build date would certain engine components be correctly dated.
I believe that MCA used the 90 day window as their reference...
-
Thanks for the information Fred. I think my block is correct for the car, the heads, manifolds and distributor are missing. I guess the date codes are not that big of a deal since I do not plan on selling the car, but would like to make it as correct as possible.Send me the date codes in question and I’ll decode them for you.

It's good to be back online again. Now we need to get the word out and hopefully we can get the majority of the old members back and some new ones as well. Niko, the site looks great! Thank you again.

Marv, Don't you still have some Hipo cams?? and even some LeMans cams? I know the one I bought from you along with the lifters and timing set a few years ago all are doing supurbly in my engine!!
Quick question:What did Shelby use for a cam when they did the '65-'66 GT 350s along with their intake and Holley carb??
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>
Yes, I still sell the Cams and have a HiPo and LeMans on hand.

Great idea,
For some reason Comp Cams, doesn't show many street grind mech rollers for the 289. However, if you go to their 351W pages you may get close. Just remember that the firing order may change. Comp Cams, Scheider and Crower can probably all make you one too.
Was thinking of the same idea to make my race HIPO streetable.
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>
The Firing Order is different between the 289 and 351, but you can use the 351 Cam and only have to change the Firing Order.
