Correct steel wheels for 65-66 GT350's ???

I have some pictures of my 1966 K code with its original wheels. These pictures were taken soon after the original owner bought the car in March of 1966. Unfortunatley I am unable and not patient enough to figure out how to post much of anything on this site as it seems ridiculously and needlessly cumbersome to do so. HOWEVER if anyone would like to see these pictures I will send them out and maybe you are clever enough to post them. rburton1961@hotmail.com

What color are they...I have heard Sahara Beige???

The wheel color was listed as "silver," but it did have a bit of a strange tint to it. The 15 x 6's that I have seen with original paint are more silver than beige. I'm speaking of 65-early 66 GT350's on this color.

They may have been black on a standard Mustang though.

Thank you Brant, I sent 3 pictures off to you. I didn't think that they would have been Sahara Beige, silver'ish' seems more likely.

This whole wheel thing....and getting a picture of the "dog dishes" that were 'supposedly' in the trunk of K codes is proving to be a real challenge! (but then I am not all that bright, lol) RB

I think the reference to the "dog dish" is nothing more than a standard hub cap.

I'm in Kamloops and will be bringing my car up from California in the spring. We'll have to connect when the snow melts.

Check out this site for the steel wheels. I bought a set of steel wheels that are 15 x 6.5 off of e-bay a while back. They have a Kelsey Hayes sticker inside, got a good deal on them. Wanted a wider steely for the car as it will be driven hard when done.

My racecar k code raced with steel wheels and was also pictured prio to hardcore racing with the rally wheels dealer installed.

I also have a magize article from Sportscar Graphic 9/64 that did a road test of the k code mustang. I will post when I get back home tuesday. It has pics of the car with the 15" steel wheels

Note the generator, automatic choke and distributor with the oiler.

Also note the 63/64 Fairlane Hipo 289 emblems. I have also seen these in early Mustang commercials but they were never on production units.

The generator appears to have the smaller standard pulley rather than the larger Hipo one.

Would they not have to drill the holes lower on the finder? I ask because of the sculpting of the lines on a Mustang the Fairlane badge does not fit flush. (My uncle had a 63 or 64 fairlane and I have his Hipo stuff, the car is LONG gone and is now a Toyota or Nissan or what scarp steel whet for in the early 70's.)

I have the identical copy of that magazine. From the article, this appears to be a car that was heavily used and tested by the media people. Most likely a preproduction car. I wonder what became of it.
