Sorry for your loss. My first time ever driving my race car K Code the wiring went on fire under the dash at Watkins Glen October 1998 as I was exiting the boot ( outer loop) I came onto pit lane smoking !! That was the end of the day and could have been the end of the car. Replace the wiring by all means always !!!

Well I am back from New Jersey Motorsports Park and am happy to report we had two mustangs on the podium for both races ! I picked up 2nd place overall 1st in class on Saturday and John Desantis in a 65 K code picked up third overall . Sunday didn't go as well for me although I qualified 3rd again the ignition switch broke on grid and I was a DNS. Joe Volpe in a 65 mustang picked up the win and John got third again !

Yes the 73 Porsche did win but the next race is my home track at Lime Rock. I will try my best to keep that from happening again !

Well here it is running the test day at Lime Rock Park. There's nothing like out running a GT3 Porsche with a 45 year old mustang !!! Check e -bay for a used GT3 !! LOL.....

The new motor is awesome and I turned the fastest time ever for the car at Lime Rock. Next race is May 21st at new jersey Motorsports Park and then June 3 /4 th at Lime Rock.

Well the race motor for my K code has arrived back from the dyno at a cool 530 hp. ! with windsor sr. steel heads. Not bad for a small block.
Now I can't wait for the Ivy Green motor to go to the machine shop for its build. Just a few more pieces till its on its way. The heads and intake will get a porting job done to them to aid in the Lemans cam breathing. Stay tuned for results ...........

Here's what I have so far.............

Carburator Holley 715cfm
Intake still looking for a F4b or a Cobra intake
Which tri y's to use ????

Has anyone installed the arvinode exhaust with a tri y header that you can post pictures of ?
I am currently working on removing all the trim and interior from a parts car. I am also evaluating all the vent windows, quarter windows and door windows I have to find the best ones that I can polish up.
Just received the camshaft, lifters and timing set from Marv. Now I have to figure out what to do with the heads. I will most likely prot them to take advantage of the LeMans cam and the Holley 715 I just scored.

The new company is a GTO that is being verified that it is a Judge ! Brakes were bad. Guy sends a tow truck. Driven to the tow truck and accidentally run into a wall !!!! Ouch.
-
Please post pics of what you do. This apparently has been an issue for one or two cars I have run across while I was in the market.
I had never know to look for that before this site and the new project has all the vin's and other identifying items.

The evolution continues back to 1968 ! We just repainted the front and rear valance cutting out the lisence plate area to match the above Photo's taken at Watkins Glen 68'[Blocked Image: http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z466/GMeindl/img078.jpg?t%201299262773]
Next up is to alter the rear trunk lid for the fuel filler cap. I have the leMans filler that was on the car mounted to the trunk lid to feed the stock gas tank.

Wow I am totally impressed with this restoration. It only makes me work harder on mine.

I can't help you on the holes but I had to replace the made in Taiwan radiator support someone tacked in during their
" restoration " that they started. I removed it and cut one off of a parts car with a close build date. The bend on the top of the support looks sharper than the repop as does the stretch marks from the press. It was well worth the effort ( $50 from a friend ) and their are plenty of parts cars out there.
I did buy a new lower radiator support from Laurel Mountain mustang, a high quality piece and added the one oval slot that was missing to duplicate the original. I do have pics of my cars original support prior to the other owners removal of it.
-
I have not figured out what to do in that department yet. I will rely on what information I can glean from the members on this site as to what they have done on kars around my build date of 12/21/64 for San Jose.

Is these a paint code for the engine compartment paint ? under floor ?
Dash paint ?
Thanks

I have never actually looked at the wheels until now but they appear to be argent. I never planned on using these as I have a new set of American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with the steel conical sleeve inserts ( ala Cobra Automotive ) for the long racing lugs.
Another tid bit of information on the 12/21/64 Kar :
Front end assembled on 12/2 2nd shift as stamped on the firewall between the tower braces. So I am surprised by the time of assembly to actual production of the vehicle. Any other late 64 SJ builds see this ?

So if fog lights go in one hole then what does two holes mean ? Why did some have two vs. one hole stamped ? Were flashers factory installed ?
-
The drawing was done by Continental themselves and is metric in millimeters / centimeters. This chart was done by hand by the manufacturer measuring a car specifically for Brion of Brion's Restorations at a time when they didn't have a full catalog of charts available. I believe it may even be specific to their machines design. There are standard ones available for the body shop industry. When I reskinned my 1995 Cobra R after a horrific 2001 crash at VIR in Grand Am Cup we measured by hand using a chart we paid $60 for.

My car has these two D shaped holes as in this photo I found online. Since it is not a GT as its too early, December 64, is this common to have these ? Could this mean it had factory fog lights ? A factory ralley pac ?
The photo I have of the original radiator support doesn't seem to show holes for the wires .

Todays mystery involves the bracket inside the cluster opening. At first glance we thought someone cut this sometime in the cars life. Upon removing the cowl upper and lower it appears this was done at the factory as it is spot welded in place and would have had to be done at the factory as how could you possibly get in there. We compared it to the other car in the shop and it didn't have the two spot welds. Any idea's ?

I will post the picture from the behind the dash side when I get it.

The two different type gears came in and the timing chain
