  • Interesting that it has a "DISC BRAKE" pedal pad - YET a DRUM brake master cylinder.

Not to mention the cheesy repo door tag!

I'd check this one over carefully - I would question if it is a true GT or Deluxe car.

The door plate sure looks original. Just has one of those cheesy decals placed over it to make it look better.

  • Yes it does appear to be an original tag below a decal - I didn't look close enough the first time - it is however a 63A car - so the deluxe interior has been added.

It also does have disc brakes - you can see the caliper clearly in one of the pictures. The thing must be scary to stop with the small master cylinder from drum brakes!!!

Pics on ebay: looks like a small vibration damper.

Small pulley on alternator as well...

Look more closely, it's a 76B(63A would be a fastback). Interior code 66 is only for black deluxe.

  • In the auction link, it looks like a hipo head on the driver's side (stamped "21"). The rivets on that door tag look odd. Maybe a replacment door?

Also isn't that rally pack designed for the 65 speedo? Shouldn't the correct one not have the tall bridge?

    Rene,

The power steering mentioned in the auction is of the "Armstrong" type as there is no power steering pump, control valve or linkages.

65 Koupe early San Jose Phoenician Yellow 4 speed
66 GT Koupe Dearborn Blue 4 speed
66 KGT San Jose fastback pony interior Silver Frost 4 speed

The left side exhaust manifold appears to be a standard non Hipo manifold.

Nice driver, probably not an original GT. Small master cylinder, pin letters on fenders not spaced correctly, missing hood lip molding, backup lights. Originally a black car!

    ...gold motor??

  • If someone just wants a nice car to get in and drive and not have to worry about paint nicks or scratches, then that was an excellent car. Keep it like it is for 10 years, collect parts to restore it later. Looks like it will make someone a nice car.
