What I find interesting is the 65 instrument opening on a 66 Vin car. It should have the speedo "dip" in the sheet metal not the straight across. Especially if it suppose to be a GT!

Seems the seller is updating the auction as information comes his way.

Odd how they painted the car with the fenders on, guess the extra paint on the inner fenders would make the VIN stamp look like it was near the correct location. Seems to be several inches from it's normal location
-
Progress today was to temporarily screw everything on the driver side. I then mounted and aligned the door. This took a bit of effort. Then a bit of work and the fender was back on. Looks pretty good, next I will remove the fender and put a few tack welds then move on to the pass side.

I just bought an entire set of inner fender aprons for my (non K) fastback and they are complete crap. Does anyone know who is making or selling quality aprons?

Pics on ebay: looks like a small vibration damper.

Small pulley on alternator as well...

Also isn't that rally pack designed for the 65 speedo? Shouldn't the correct one not have the tall bridge?

If this is considered fraud does one consider it the same thing to stamp your VIN in your engine block? Page 6 of the 289 HIPO book 2nd edition calls this a restoration not a forgery.

I believe if you read the statement made in the HIPO book 4th edition the stamping of the VIN on the block was in fact restamping a faded VIN. That's what was meant by restoration. To stamp your engine block with a VIN if it wasn't there is fraud. I wouuld be very suprised if Tony was advocating this.

René

I guess I need to get the forth edition, the second states and I quote, "If your HP block is damaged, a standard black that bears the same one of the above casting numbers can be converted to a Hi-Po. Use the HP main bearing caps and have it line bored. There is no difference, however, if our car originally had a VIN stamped block you will have to reproduce the stamping. This is not forgery, this is restoration."
Clearly the comment is not regarding a faded VIN number nor am I suggesting it is a good thing to do, only pointing out there is or has been gray areas when it comes to these items.
Oh and the comment on the Mona Lisa and the frame was funny.

Given that it has a 65 VIN it does have one item that would lead me to believe it could be a GT. The fact that the opening for the instrument cluster is stamped (factory cut out) to accept the larger round 66 or 65GT speedometer. This was only on a 65 GT or all 66 cars, GT or not.
My two cents.

Wow, it's amazing what some people call a restoration. More like a bottle of Armor All. Buyer beware on this heap.

I was wondering if any of you knew where one could purchase a renew kit for my LeMans Holley 3259? It is essential the same as a 4150 but with enough differences to deem a unique part number for the kit. So far no luck finding one.

Michael

O agree with Gene - warn parts is very likely.
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>
I have heard that problem is more common in the BW T-10 which is what i have in my non-k fastback with the same problem.
So it is also common in a warn Toploader?

Anyone else out there have an AC story?
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>
My car has AC, but the balancer was changed to use a standard ford pulley either during the last restoration or in the very beginning when the AC was installed. Whom ever did the job whether dealer or not did a really nice job. I had planed on keeping it in but after reading your thoughts might take it out.

I agree with Ralph on this. I have one that is 16,000 units in front of this one and mine is November 7, 1964.

I'm 10K in front with a December 64 build. Does it matter that mine is a convertible?
Any comments on the aircon? Was it a dealer option or could you get order it with air?

Scratch that last comment. I'm 10K AFTER and have a December 64 build!

Guys, this car is far from a Shelby. No Shelby steering wheel, no shelby tach, no radio delete, no spare tire package tray, and the "hertz wheels where not around until 66. For the images of the engine bay on ebay the bay looks quite tired as well. Not sure what all the hoopla is about.
