    <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>Vehicle Description

This is the best performance and best looking Mustang that you will find. It was purchased new in St. Petersburg, FL by the original owner in 1966. I am the fifth owner of this vehicle, which has been well taken care of, drives great, and has been meticulously maintained. The car has been painted its original color, Wimbledon White with blue pearl accenting the curves on the exterior. The interior is blue/white, and has been completely redone along with the carpet. The restoration of this car was professionally done four years ago. The body of this car is in excellent shape. It has a very small paint chip on the left rear, near bumper. There is absolutely no rust on the floors or body panels. The engine has been been rebuilt once, and it runs very strong, shifts well, and is extremely quick. The car does not have disc brakes, but it has power steering, new wood grain steering wheels, original style steel wheels. This 4 speed High Performance 289 is everything that you would want. it is immaculate inside and out. It has dual exhuast flow masters dual trumpets. The A/C does not work, but all new parts have been purchased, and are in boxes. They will go with the car. The trunk cargo area has been closed a little due to speakers installed. They can be easily removed. This car has all documentation from the first to the present owner. The car has a CD player, speakers, amp, and a security system located in the vehicle in a discreet location where it would not take away the originality of this show car, which was professionally completed for this former free agent professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks. This car is a real head turner. I was told by the previous owner that this car was featured in Mustang Monthly Magazine the 90's. I don't know if that is true, and I have not investigated it. Good luck to the highest bidder. I will be downloading additional pictures of the interior on tomorrow.

  • This car is FOR SALE AGAIN ON EBAY. Gotta love this paragraph in the latest description: <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>The engine has been rebuilt with hydraulic cam and vacuum distributor for better performance and it runs very strong, shifts well, and is extremely quick.<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>

  • I can't stand it when people say this: "best looking Mustang that you will find," especially on a car that is incorrect. That is just irritating.

  • Was that a standard 1 can rebuild, or did owner kick out the extra bucks for the 2 can rebuild. Is it really that hard to mask off accessories on the engine compartment to avoid overspray? Yuck!!!

Passenger shock tower is pushed up where coil spring meets apron indicating some type of suspension impact. Lots of ?'s

What's really surprising is the money this car is bidding to.

Not sure what you are stating here, but if you are talking about the big dent on the front side of the shock tower, that is factory for some cars? I dont know why, but I have a couple of cars that have that and some that dont, I dont know why some do and some dont?

  • I am talking about the flat area on top of the aprons, between the front & rear aprons, specifically between the two bolts on top that hold the coil cover on. You can see it is bowed up alittle between the bolts, and you can really see it when you look at the fender lip. I know from my own experience when I slid up & over a curb doing about 30 (along time ago when I was much younger)that it looked the same. The impact of whatever the car hits, drives the coil until it bottoms out on the snubber, then pushes the coil up into the apron causing it to bow up. It takes a pretty hard blow to the suspension to get that part of the shock tower/apron to push up & usually will require new suspension pieces to fix. That kind of impact will also usually show up in the firewall where the shock tower brace is bolted in, but that area is fairly easy to straighten out. Hard to tell from the pic's if that area is damaged.

  • Well, at least the 2nd time around they removed the grungy "Caution Fan" sticker. Looks like they put some Ford Corporate Blue lipstick on the pig without disassembly & slapped on some cheap "Mustang" valve covers. How much you want to bet the previous valve covers got blue overspray all over them? Or worse yet, there is overspray on the rockers & pushrods.

Too bad, but it seems there are a lot of these out there. I wonder how many had the engine swapped out years ago and then the owners had no clue it wasn't correct? Obviously the current owner of this car knows & doesn't care.

Hhhhmmmmm, no disc brakes, "ac" doesn't work AND power steering. On a k-code. Just curious.

    <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>

Did they all have disc in '66? I know many '65 kars don't.

I was also noticing that first picture showing the undercarriage. black under the floors, red in the tunnel. My floors were originally black, haven't inspeced the tunnel that close yet.

  • Is it just me or does this car look familiar?

Seems like we say one exactly like this a year ago with a questionsable door tag and fendor stamp.

When questioned about it the owner at that time started doing the back stroke!<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Am I crazy or does anyone else remeber this?

Regardless I'd check the car over very carefully.

  • The rear end in this car appears to be an eight incher. Am I the first to notice this or am I mistaken?

  • Special Ed,

I am basing my statement of an eight inch rear end based on the fact that I have both an eight and a nine inch housing standing next to each other making it easy to compare. Axle tubes on both eight and nine rear ends in 65-66 Mustangs are tapered at the spring perches. The picture taken from in front of the rear end, although dark, still appears to be an eight inch. The clincher for me is the way the housing is shaped. The oil fill plug on a nine inch is further below center line of the two dimples in the housing than an eight inch. The axle tubes on a nine inch are straight across where they weld to the center of the housing and an eight inch has a slight step like this one. The area on the housing where the oil fill plug goes is not depressed on a nine inch like it is on an eight inch. The nine inch housing has a noticeable 2 1/2 inch wide flat vertical band that is in the center of the rear part of the housing just to the left of the oil fill plug. The band is part of the housing stamping and not an added piece.
