Does anybody know if a complete cowl assembly is offered yet on a 65/66 body? Mine is beyond repair and I can only locate the 67 style.
Thanks Brian

I've not done it, but my body guy says the parts are "close enough" that no one can tell without pulling the car apart to look for it.
Brian,
The 65-66 Cowl Assemblies have been advertised by the manufacturer, but they are currently out of stock. We do not have an expected delivery date, but will have them when they become available.
We have not even listed them or given them a part number yet. We will do this when we are able to get some.

I've had good luck getting sheetmetal parts from donor cars at Colorado Mustang. They really helped me with a decklid filler panel for my '66 FB. Here's the link.

On a valuable car such as a K code, I would suggest you find a donor car to cut a cowl out of. Try to find something near your production date and assembly plant. Might consider buying a full parts car with a close VIN.
National Parts Depot - 2008 catalog page 184, $166.95. For a 65-66 (64 is implied), they state minor modifications required for a lower panel from a 67-68 cowl. As the lower panel is 'hidden', why not, if you can remove the upper without damage and reinstall it. I doubt you can find a lower cowl 'doner' panel in good shape anyway.

thanks for the help all

So both styles of cowl covers are available for 65? Wiper pivots changed about mid way through '65.
Just to update, I located a new complete cowl from CJ pony parts. They are a brand new product just out.
Brian
Do they have it in stock or are they baiting you to send your money? CJ is good about not filling orders for months...
My personal opinion is you are making a big mistake using a reproduction part for such an integral part of the car. Patch the bottom part with the top hats with a repro but if at all possible, use an original top piece.
Thanks for the advice. The bottom is 90% gone, but I will reuse the top if I can.
I agree with with charles, i just finished my 65 lower cowl with the patch panel and some fabricating, if you have to take the time to drill out 300 spot welds to remove the top section keep going and save as much original metal you can ,date codes, vin stampings, ect,i think you will have a stronger unibody in the end.

There are 151 spot welds that hold the cowl together. What a pain! but it was well worth it. Here are some pictures if they will help out. Dave V.

If someone wants to shrink the big picture, please do.
That looks like a pretty ambicious project to replace the cowl however it appears that you are doing a great job.

I knew that they changed from the threaded style shafts but didn't think about the sheetmetal changing. Good info to know for us early kar guys.

Dynacorn (manufacturer) advertises that they are the late '65-66 type, but we have not gotten any yet-always on backorder.
