The front sway bar is thicker in diameter

That's quite the balance depression from a drill on the outer ring somewhat out of the norm.

Yes have a few things pop up although it does not state original drive train an inspection would be a good idea, looking at the rear end housing i could not see the taper in the housing tubes and the e brake cables should be routed over the frame rails vs under the rear springs wrong fuel pump ,should have a Dearborn radiator might be dealer install AC

Thanks Fred .i see adjustable strait brake push rods on e bay that might be worth experimenting with to get more pedal response from a disc brake car
-
If its a K code , it should already have disc brakes.
If it is a K code Maybe a previous owner removed the disc brakes and installed drums? but why?
The Kars only had disc brakes as standard if they were a GT. All other Kars had drum brakes unless they ordered them as a separate option. One of my Kars is a drum brake Kar and I have seen many others with drum brakes. The first time that I saw a Kar with drum brakes my thoughts were the same as yours.

Hi Fred, regarding the D stamped manual disc brake pedal which has a lower position stud on it vs drum brake pedal ,would it still use a standard strait master cylinder push rod thanks

I have not seen any weld or seam in a ring gear not to say some did not, the issue i had on a 70 boss 302 was the ring gear started slipping on the flywheel i noticed that the engine was turning over much slower than normal when cranking along with a grinding sound, the ring gear actually cut into the flywheel much like a lathe would, metal filings were found inside the bellhousing from it i had to replace the flywheel as a replacement ring was to loose a fit.
-
Thank you Dan there is a flywheel listed on e bay that looks like it has a crack in the ring gear . i once had a ring gear with a small crack just enough to make it slip on the flywheel when starting the engine, it sounded like a bad starter grinding
-
Were the ring gears on a 289 manual trans flywheel cast iron or forged steel

I do not have any information on the block ownership but i might have worded the post differently as not to offend the owner of the 6FO9K mustang who ever that might be.
-
You might want to ask if the owner of the car the block came from originally to contact you .
Do you have information to share on ownership? If not, that is why I am posting here so if anyone is looking for this vin they know to contact me.

Wow that is a really interesting story rare Kar is it a manual 4 speed or automatic it sure would have enough power to tow a boat or anything else put behind it what rear gear is in it.
