Looking for a clean & strait 65 66 original L/F mustang fender
-
Nice looking car. interesting that it has a 5 bolt bell housing and trans from another K code but has a C8ZE replacement balancer and no block vin stamping shown in the pictures .it would be worth an inspection before purchase.
-
Just thinking why ford used a standard 289 fan on 67 K cars . was there an improved fan shroud in 67 that pulled the same volume of air as a 64.5 - 66 fan .
-
I think something did go wrong Fred, i passed on that auction last time it was up as i didnt like the look of the crank, the rear counterweight was not polished from the brenell hardness test and the orange paint on the counterweight was in question in my opinion ,

Its pretty basic in that light means less money and heavy means more money.
-
I was watching that on craigs list and thought the price was a little light for an original housing. im thinking the seller is a member on saac or another site.
-
Well yes you are missing something but dont take my word for it go visit the BOSS 302 and concourse mustang web site and read the for sale posting guide line rules ,this seller had 4 months to read the sections here that fred posts every day on what the market value of k code items are, but again read in detail what the BOSS 302 and concourse mustang administrators put in place. the BOSS 302 guidlines go into detail.this is to protect the seller as well as the buyer.

Fred im sure that was the case here, sometimes a seller does not know what to look for and starts fishing for info ,if he had opened up more we could have been more help, for instance the exhaust manifolds still had the factory bolt locks indicating the heads were never removed meaning the block was still standard bore, was there a 3939S on it, was the original carb somewhere close, original water pump, motor mounts, ect. all these things ad value, you can set a price on the high side and always adjust it .
-
Well i guess if we dont need to post a price and sell our items through a pm messiage or chat the must post a price rule must be removed.
-
That looks like the road draft tube that was on the k code engine and trans listed here by member Burmesch Wisconsin. am i correct.
-
Im going to take a wild guess at the short block assy date ,if the casting date was 1-20-65 the assy date stamp could be 1-23-65 that friday or 1-26-65 on monday.
-
Most likely a march or april 65 car, an assy block assy date stamping would help pinpoint it.
-
Note that the engine motor mount shown is a 1966 and later style mount , also has a standard 289 alternator pulley. trans and engine vin stamps would helpfull.
-
The carb is not a manual choke, would it be a fairlane hi po unit or a replacement autolite . having an alternator would rule out it being a 64.5 engine assy.
-
Thank you Fred, actually i didnt bid on it for a couple reasons ,it was a no shipping pick up only listing and i wouldnt been able get there, and i was not convinced it was a k code crank as i coulnt see the smoothed area for the brinell hardness test, but still i good buy for the other components listed with it.
-
Happy new year to all , lets hope we have better weather and good will as well.
-
E bay listing (not mine) by seller (thetropicana) , 289 K code rotating assy, A closer look at the crankshaft did not show the brinnell test area on the last counterweight that would normally be seen whch would be smooth , and looks like the orange paint on the crank is spray paint vs brushed on as normally seen , the hatchet counter weight looks to have an elongated pin location hole , im not sure on how to add a link of it to the post but would be helpfull for others input.
