Those were markings the Ford assembly line workers used to equip the kar. The "K" no doubt means the kar get the HiPo motor. I don't recognize the others. Underneath the paint on your radiator support brace would be additional codes that told the Ford assembly plant workers what body style, exterior paint, interior color and if back up lights were to be installed in the rear. Mine had "PIO" which means Performance Image Option--A GT car.
Thanks , yes thought along those lines but couldnt find anything positive on the net ,starting at pic 1 there is a k with a D or an O over the top ?? . pic 2 has what looks like k/T could the T be toploader?? . the last pic is just a K,
cheers

I have 5 "K's" on the core support of one of my very early August 6, 1964 San Jose Kars plus the HI PERF that is barely visible on the panel in front of the fuel tank. This panel is what makes the Kar work with dual exhaust.

The Kar was restored 2017-2019 since these photos were taken and from what I can see those paint markings have been replicated. from the 200 or so pics of the kar as it was being stripped and restored all the factoty markings found were replicated.
cheers
Haydn.
Here is the orange/red color ( K) tattoo on my 65 Dearborn fastback on R/F radiator support area. 0423201930_Burst01.jpg

Same all yellow, also have before and after pics of the markings on the side of the front frame rails will post those when I dig them out, I have no before pics of the stripped upper radiator support area so no idea what markings were under there

Those frame rail marking tell the assemblers which fenders go on that car, the location of each for both sides of the car.
Here's a photo I recently marked up from when my '66 Dearborn FB was in the process of being torn down for its restoration some years ago. I don't know if my mark up is correct but I suspect the large K indicated it was a K engine model. There's another letter or two next to the T but I can't make out what they are. Maybe one of them is a G?

While the unibody of the car was being painted its exterior color the fenders were hanging on hooks in another part of the plant floor. Those numbers identified the hook each fender was hung from so that workers could identify the correct fenders for each specific car.
Since the numbers identified the hook the same number will be seen on many other Mustangs but not always the same pair of numbers. This was a practice seen at only San Jose so far during 65-66 production

Thanks for chiming in on this, Jeff. Your expertise is always appreciated here. This is another lesson that I am learning here today.
