I have just done this modification to my Kar, just for the cool factor and being period correct, Cobra Pan from Branda, manifold is a genuine Offenhauser Cobra Hirise I sold to a mate 25 years ago, He agreed to sell it back to me as long as it went on my Kar , just had it Vapour blasted to clean it up and the carb is 69 date coded 3259 , 715cfm20210827_152853.jpg20220423_085552.jpg20220423_085624.jpg20220423_085710.jpg service replacement restored by Tom Zeman in East Islip. after bolting the carb on started it up,settled into a nice idle , only minor adjustment needed and happy to say was impressed how it runs noticeable improvement and pulls hard

Hi Fred
second thoughts the local guys will only have repro mounting plates so a set of used original mounting plates will be fine if you have them.

Hi Fred,
Ubolts are correct, however I took one of the Shock mounting plates off yesterday and got on Google to compare them the mounting plates look nothing like a 65-66 mustang mounting plate in fact they are the same as the 67-70 plates so I would say that is my issue

Hi Guys,
are the rear shock mounting plates different for the Kcode, (9 inch diff) than the normal 83/4 mustang Diff.
my Ubolts from the diff down to the plate are angled in doesn't look right and I'm reasonably sure its not right, they should go straight down to the plate

HI Evan,
I have a Trans 5F08K303343 was in my kcode fastback before i rebuilt and installed the original trans , could you check your data base to see if there is a match before I put this up for sale to the general public, trans is in New Zealand

Thanks Fred

Hi Guys,
Not sure if this is genuine or not as the Vin is stamped on the bottom of the casing not the pad.
this was the trans in my KCode fastback before my original Trans was rebuilt and installed, I was cleaning it up to sell and noticed the vin so thought I would post it on the Forum in case it is genuine and the car owner wants it back if it is still around bearing in mind it is in New Zealand, I have posted photos .
Cheers

Hi Evan , can you add my Vin 5RO9K153391 to your data base, if you read my thread K History in the General Diskussion Forum you will read a bit of the Kar History and see I have already found my original Trans thanks to this web site. supposedly the Engine was "blown" while the car was being raced and removed, hopefully the Block is still in one piece and around somewhere.
cheers Haydn

Thanks Fred, as you know you supplied a lot of parts to get this Kar to how it is today, and yes I hope I can track down the original owner, I am keen to find out what was modified on this Kar back in the day, particularly the lights between the deck lid and bumper , must have made this car stand out at the Drag Strips, Hopefully some one reading this may remember.

Hi guys probably a long shot reading a similar thread from Recips in 2019 but will give it a go.I am trying to track down the original owner of my Kar. VIN - 5R09K153391 , Black plate California Kar (PFF098) when sold to New Zealand by the second owners in 2007 , I will post pic of the plate as it has a blue sticker in one corner that reads
CALIFORNIA
1967
9232066
also have a copy of the California Title in the second owners name and also have a copy of an email from the second owners with some rather interesting History, the second owners are a well known Californian Drag Racing family, i wont post names, but they raced a Thames Van Gasser called "RADIATION" in the late sixties and finished their careers in Top Fuel in the Eighties, they purchased my Kar off a lady in the early eighties for their son who drove it to High School and College it then sat in their barn for 20+ years until being sold to a guy in NZ.
The second owners do not have the whereabouts or name of the lady they bought it off years ago, they say the lady and her husband were the first owners, he worked for Carroll Shelby ,the email says while at Shelbys the light panel between the deck lid and bumper was replaced with one with extra lights ???, the second owners put original lights and panel back in when they purchased the Kar, the kar was raced by the first owner and he blew the original engine at some stage , the kar ended up with a base 289 and that was how it was sold to the second owners.
So i am very interested in tracking down the first owner if possible, the Kar came to NZ as a rust free K Code project minus original engine, it has now been restored to as it left the factory or as near as possible. will post pics of Plate, Kar restored and Kar on trailer as it arrived in NZ 17 yrs ago2018-08-26 004_autoscaled.jpgPick up from FPS1_autoscaled.jpgPLATE K CODE.jpg
