Hi Fellow K-Code Owners

  • Hi all Just wanted to give a quick introduction to me:

My name is Joe, I Reside in Wallingford, CT, and am 25 years of age The past few monthes, I have had the pleasure of doing something I've dreamed about all my life.... redoing certain areas of MY fathers 66 K-code GT Fastback.

I have tons of pics I will have to post up a few.

Long story short.. He has owned the car since Jan of 1967, it had 58k original miles on it, and hasnt seen rain or snow since 1968. It has all original glass, chrome, sheetmetal, underside, underside paint, interior (cept for doorpanels radio, and has 70 mach 1 seats in the front) and the exterior was painted once back in 1998 I will be putting the 4th engine in the car... but the 3rd engine has been in the car since 1970 (351C 4v)

I am currently in the process of building a 351W stroker (427) engine with Afr 225 heads and a full Weber carb setup on top.

The car also has Original Shelby scoops and windows, that my father Aquired from Shelby back in 1967. And has a Fiber glass decklid with a lipped up wing on the back, which he aquired when he was in daytona in 1968.

Please dont abuse me for modifying this car, as im not cutting anything that wasnt cut when he wedges a Clevland motor in it back in 1970. No one knew the value these cars would have today... and dont ask where the original motor went, because he sold that in april of 67. Anyway hes a pic of what it looked like last year( with my other two stangs...sorry couldnt find just a pic of it alone), this is with the 351C With the dual tunnel ram.. I look forward to sharing this experiance of a lifetime with you

    Joe

  • Thanks guys. its nice to know there are regular people out there that understand. I had one guy one time hammering me cuz it was modded. who knew in 1967 they would be this sought after. My dad always says if he knew the value of a K he woulda left it stock... but its to late for that lets have fun.

heres a pic of the engine goin into it. Hopin to have it all done by April 15th, I plan on taking it to world ford challenge in Indianapolis in May.

  • Joe,

    WELCOME to the HiPo site.

I've had my K since '79 - and I wish I could go back and slap the teenager who drove it and raced it - Oh wait that was ME!

I had a lot of fun, but the car suffered (as does my wallet NOW that I'm having a lot of stuff repaired during my restoration!).

NICE Motor - it will look nice under the K hood.

  • We aren't responsible for others mods. work with what you have, and enjoy, welcome to the forum.<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • Joe - Welcome to the site from another Connecticut guy, right next door in Meriden. I have seen this car many times over the years (our FORD car club ran the Wallingford Wal-Mart cruise for many years and we are now at Dino's in North Haven) and did not realize it was a K. It is a very nice car with obviously a ton of family history and the new engine looks absolutley awesome. Hope to run into you this year sometime.

  • Howdy and welcome from another CT K owner. I live over in Haddam and there are two 65 Hipo fastbacks in town. Sounds like we have enough of these cars in CT for a get together. Maybe we should try when the weather gets a little warmer (and the roads less salty).

    Once again, welcome.

  • Nice to see some fellow local K owners

My father actually sold his motor back in 67... to someone in East haddem who put it in a Austin-Healey (Typo?).. I guess he did a pretty slick job. Wonder happen to it. Would love to find it.

There are always mustang Gatherings in CT. If you guys havent heard of Late Model Mustang club of CT, check it out http://www.lmmc-ct.com

Quite a few classic owners on there as well.

The car will def be at the FORD Shows at dinos this year, as well as my father's Newly purchased 64 Fairlane, gonna be a fun year

how did it all turn out ? Can you post any info on the Weber set-up ? Who was the vendor, etc. How much time did it take to get them in the state of tune you wanted?

  • Ray,

You have a beautiful 66 Shelby. Is the color

Signal Flare Red? Looks a bit to light to be

Candy Apple. I love the Signal Flare Red color

and painted my 67 Shelby in that color back

in 1978. It was originally Lime Green.

  • You know how we all set goals, Well ya I never got close to getting it running for april 15th haha. However, I do have the car running now, and it should be out of the garage for this weekend's LMMC Show held at Moroso in Guilford, CT

Had a few items custom made for the car, Like the 1-peice strut bar in the photo, and it only uses factory bolt holes, No drilling or modfying anything to make it fit. Cant wait to get it all done. Im very close now. Here is a pic of how it looks right now. Few parts to change, paint a few things, and it should be ready
