    we checked

and my son's lower mounts have a different marking

the one's for my K code are correct

    ie C4ZA-6A030-B

    an C4ZA-6C041-B

but are they the exact same shape?

  • The 65 Hipo frame mount castings have a deeper saddle for the mounts to set into compared to the standard 65 castings due to the complexity of the Hipo mounts. If the Hipo castings were not deeper, the engine would sit too high in the engine compartment.

  • the HiPo book states that some K cars did have cast iron pumps!

if one did have one of these,

or like the one on my son's '66,

does one just use 2 gaskets to re install?

    thanks

Read the text on page 30 of the HP book (4th ed).

  • Dave, In response for the need for two gaskets, yes, it will need two gaskets and they are both different.

  • I think NPD is likely wrong - but check your locak Autoparts store.

The gaskets I just replaced on my daughters '66 with a '93 302 were different. The same gasket in both places might not work - won't on a later model - so check before you buy.

  • The appropiate gasket usually comes with a new or rebuilt water pump, both cast iron and aluminum types. The cast iron type has the cover to gasket installed and you do not need to remove it. Ford replacement gasket part numbers are: al pump - C2OZ-8507-B; cast iron pump, to timing cover - C5AZ-8507-B; pump cover to pump - C5AZ-8513-A. You most likely will not find these part numbers on aftermarket gasket kits but the three numbers indicate three different gaskets. Many gasket kits include all three. When you mix in a 5.0 pump gasket, I think the pump design is different and not interchangable. The aluminum to cast iron pump change is documented as level 8 (L8), done from March to Aug 65. It also includes the timing cover.

  • i tried to take a picture showing an edge

with the gasket material on both sides

    but it didn't take well.

but.......the gaskets, at least here on my son's car,

and to my eye; i am near sighted,

    did look the same thickness

    iowa

  • Dave, The inner and outer gaskets for the cast iron pump are the same thickness but are cut differently around the water port and upper edge. They are not interchangeable.

  • 2 Q's

what is the correct color of blue for a ford engine?

    'old ford blue' from NAPA?

    is the VMF server down?

i get a message that my server is denied access.

(sorry to post this on this site,

but everyone probably knows by now

to ignore my threads and posts if need be)

  • Isn't there a provision for the brake cable on ealry floor pans over the frame rail ? This is not on the Dynacorn floor pan and would have to be cut out of the stock pan.

Anyone have pics of this ?
