reply to spare tire reflections

  • all the discussion on the spare tire paper label has generated a huge response on what was and is on an original spare tire....it is very hurtful to to history and those to whom certain responses have received replies on the refections and insights of others that never intended to refute but only advance what little they might have to offer on the subject. No one on this site wants to quash honest opinion or facts as they have been experienced over the many years of mustang dealings......we all want the best, most informed observations on the many subjects near and dear to our hearts....don't take offence but stay in the discussions.....we do not mean to show any disrespect, only wish to encourage your help and understanding...all who undertake to keep this Mark alive need everyone's help in this endeavor

    Repectfully,

    a long time member

  • I agree 100% - don't stop the dialog, but definitely think about the comments made on BOTH sides. The goal here is to openly share AND debate Mustang info - not to pounce on anyone for sharing or to just pick up your toys and go home when someone questions you.

Our goal here has always been to discuss topics in detail - both pros and cons - AND sometimes people have their feelings a little too close to the surface or make comments that can be taken a little too critically.

Unfortuantely just like email this type of forum doesn't allow for a good "read" on a persons actual attitude to a question or response - ie body language, voice tone, or facial expression are ALL missing - so it is hard to tell a persons state of mind.

I love the fact that someone took the time to share a great picture of a low mileage car - this is exactly the type of info we need to be sharing to advance the hobby - at the same time I also say "trust but verify" - we do need more data to verify the accuracy so potentially inaccurate information isn't put out in the public.

This is a great site with many great people - I am saddened when I see the occasional negative "back and forth" dialog - but it will happen. Just remember to take a deep breath and maybe let 20-30 minutes pass before responding to a posting - many times a little down time will change your perspective.

  • Agree and sorry to see that things were taken the way they were. Unfortunately (likely due to allot of reasons include the medium) every forum seems to have one of these threads that goes sideways every so often.

    Amen...

  • RalphJr said it well. The "spirit" of the site has always been an exchange of information without personalizing it. When things get to the personal level, we try to take action as soon as we can. We have deleted posts which are not informational, and are in fact attacks in the past, and will continue to do so in the future. We are exchanging information and have a right to disagree, but in a non-aggressive, non-personal, and professional manner. Now let's all "bury the hatchet" and keep the dialog constructive. Thank you in advance for your adherence to these policies.

  • Marv,

Wish you hadn't locked the original topic, but I understand why you cleaned it up then locked it. I would like to have responded to the last comment by JKWILSON.

No sir, I respectfully beg to differ. This is what keeps new details hidden away!

Rest assured, I will keep my mouth closed and information to myself in the future!

I for one truly appreciate what JKWILSON has shared and hope he continues to share info, especially those with Photos!

  • I am truely sorry that I even considered asking the question that I did that caused all this trouble and bad blood between members here-that surely wasn't my intention at all.

In over 10 years on the internet being involved in about 12 automotive (and truck) websites I have never had a thread that I started or contributed to locked up-I certainly don't blame the mods for doing this either.

Can't we all just enjoy our hobby!!
