Complete Arvinode System in NPD

  • Marv

Without all of the hard work that has gone into the HiPo Forum we would not have had a place to exchange information. The project was a real team effort by Forum contributors with special thanks due to these fellows:

    Herb Gordon

    Karl Seifert

    Tom Glotkowski

Charles Turner, MCA Head National Judge 1st & 2nd Generation Mustangs

Bob Mannel, author of Mustang & Ford Small Block V-8, 1962-1969

Joe Tonietto, owner of system manufacturer Waldron's Antique Exhaust.

    Scott Halset, NPD

    and most importantly,

Dick Irwin, son of Arvinode patent engineer Benjamin Irwin.

Jim Abbott, the Arvin prototype shop foreman who was the original fabricator of the system.

  • Dave gets all the credit for spearheading the project. I wish I had not thrown away the exhaust years ago!! I tried to order the rear resonator straps from NPD and was told they have been backordered since Nov. Not sure if Joe has any yet at Waldron. I know this, I love the sound from this special exhaust.

  • Chuck, your April Kar uses the later type muffler system.

  • Dave, Those clamps look really good and round out all of your efforts to get the Arvinode system faithfully reproduced. It makes me almost want to buy a Kar that is correct with the system as my Kars are too late to use it.

  • Hi,

I have Kar that is too late for this system but I would really like to have this sytem on my kar.

Is it a difficult task to mount this on a late model and what parts and partnumbers are needed from NPD to get the complete system from the manifold?

    Thanks,

    Christoffer

  • I installed it on my early 66 GT-Konv --had it out today an it sounds awesome---highly recommeded

  • Hi Guys

My 65 GT k fastback has a build date of 22/3/65.( DSO Los Angeles ) What would the correct exhaust system should it have ? At presant it has the later type but is not the original.

    Cheers

  • Your scheduled date is within the time frame for the Arvinode dual exhaust system. You can confirm this by examining the location of the holes in the rear frame rails that are used to mount the clamps that support the resonators. The Arvinode system locates the holes several inches forward compared to the later dual system that superceeded it, and likely won't have the reinforcement tubes inside the frame rails. San Jose cars switched over from the Arvinode system around April 4th, 1965.

  • the install was very easy---fit is dead on---I used the better quality gt trumpets instead of the turndowns---at the time there were no repro muffler hangers, i just used cheapo from autoparts, I will change them sooner or later now that the repros are out--

  • Chris, according to Daves post and pictures above, it would appear that the hangers are already available from NPD.
