  • Any ideas how much they bought it for? It was for sale for $50K before it went to auction. That's one hell of a markup. I think because of the S Code, 67 K Codes won't get up in price like the 65 and 66's.

The car does look beautiful though.

  • That is very true. I have been looking for a '67 K code fastback with deluxe interior and a 4-speed ever since I got into cars. I haven't even found one, much less found one I can afford. I am about to give up and get a S code with deluxe interior. Those aren't easy to find either. My heart is with the K code's, though. If the S code was a better engine, Shelby would have put them in the GT 350's but he stuck with the K code because it is a great racing engine.

Agreed...When you consider the weight of the small block vs the FE, the handling and balance is far better with the original 289 over the front wheels.

As far as this particular car goes, it seems destined to flip as many times as a high diver in the olympics! <img src=images/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

I know of a 67K Fastback with Deluxe interior (and the four warning lights in center console) though it is a GTA. Midnightmist Blue/Blue interior. Not currently for sale but maybe at some point.

And I have a 67S-code Fastback with Deluxe interior and it is also a GTA...and Midnightmist Blue/Blue interior. It's a keeper.

Interesting point that the 67Ks cost ~$260 MORE than a 67S-code...and the K's were indeed better, though unable to order with AC or PS. I recall years ago drag racing a friend driving a stock 390 fastback with my 67K Shelby C4 (w/out Paxton)...and whip his _ _ _ ...more than once!

    Long live the K's!!! <img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • At least the current seller is honest about it having a Hipo spec but not original engine.

According to the auction site, it was sold for $44,250...

Nice mark up, just a lazy $21K.

Here's the spiel from the sellers non ebay website:

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote><font color=red>A Mustang collectors Mustang-the K code fastback is among the most desirable and collectable of all the great ponies.

This exceptionally rare factory code correct Acapulco Blue with Blue interior 1967 Ford Mustang GT K-code 2 2 Fastback features: highly sought after K-code 289cid 271hp HiPo engine, 4-speed manual transmission, GT equipment group, Sport Deck rear seats, AM radio, tinted glass, Deluxe seat belts, center console, 50K miles, original sales order, dealer invoice, warranty card, and more.

This amazingly rare car is one of a mere 319 Fastbacks equipped with the 289 HiPo engine, of which 205 came equipped with 4-speed manual transmission, 19 were painted Acapulco Blue, 7 of which came with Blue bucket seats, and of those only one, this one, was ordered with the a center console.

If K-code Mustangs are among the most collectible and investment worthy Mustangs to own, this fantastically rare and very special Fastback is among the most desirable of these highly sought after classic Pony cars! </font id=red><hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>

<font color=navy>Doesn't seem to mention the non original block.</font id=navy>

  • The Ebay auction description has the more honest details about the engine. It clearly states, in my eyes, that the original engine is not there. A partial copy of this is below:

This exceptionally rare factory code correct Acapulco Blue with Blue interior 1967 Ford Mustang GT K-code 2+2 Fastback features: 289cid 271hp HiPo spec engine, 4-speed manual transmission, power front disc brakes, GT equipment group, Sport Deck rear seats, AM radio, tinted glass, Deluxe seat belts, center console, original sales order, dealer invoice, warranty card, and more.

Purchased new in 1967 by a gentleman in Nebraska, this vehicle had one owner until 1971 when it was traded in to a dealer on a new 1971 Boss 351 Fastback. The original owner was later able to track the car down and repurchase it from a young man also in Nebraska in 1984. The motor had been replaced with a 302, however, the owner spent the next several years restoring the car as needed and sourcing parts to reinstall the correctly configured motor. By 1994 he had found the proper 289 block and had the engine and internals Magnafluxed, and balanced and blueprinted with correct HiPo internals and to HiPo specifications. This special and well cared for K-code gem was held in this enthusiast’s modest collection until 2007.

It is a shame that the web site for this Kar does not have this same description.

It's more than a shame, I find it unethical. I'm sure the seller would be honest to a potential buyer who only saw the car via their non-ebay website.

I'm also sure the seller wouldn't tell a potential buyer that they only paid $44K for it <img src=images/icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>
