Sharp green car. I think those hubcaps look great on there!
Wonder how good it runs...

Just been looking at the VIN stamping on the inner fender. Is this correct as I don't see any star stamp at the start or end of the number? Did some cars come stamped like this?
Cheers
Steve
It has the stars - just really hard to see with the thick paint. You will see a slight one up front and just a dimple in the back - photo is not the best.
Nice looking car, but the devil is in the details. Lots of little things wrong - like rear seat belts and 8 track with door speakers - neither one availabe or correct for a '65. Both the rear seat belt holes, cut dash, and the door speaker holes will be difficult or impossible to repair back to original.
And what about that ill fitted rear fender cap? WOW for a dealer I would have expected a little better. This looks REALLY bad in the photos - might just be on crooked - might tell you that the rear quarter was replaced poorly - something to check out before buying.
I DO like the hubcap treatment too!!!<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> You don't see many this way anymore. Nice color combo.

Fred what more can you add about this car?
Doug, Having not personally inspected the Kar, I cannot add more than I have previously. I can make a run to Missouri to inspect it for you if you like.

Fred I will call you - but not for this car. Cheers Doug
Ad indicates a non original motor. A repro door tag to me is a red flag that someone along the line has made some changes to bring a higher price and then throw away the orignal to conceal what has been done. Otherwise, why not at least keep the original door tag as a souvenir?
Somewhere along the lines of ownership, doors were replaced due to accident damage, rust, whatever.....way back then, I think few people bothered to care about saving the door tag. My neighbor just told me of a car that's been in his family since new. They had to get a new door back in the 80s and didn't even consider keeping/saving the door tag. Too bad, b/c it's a very nicely equipped car!
But you are right. Without the original tag, owners can build to their current tastes. Heck, even MCA rules seem to encourage this (unless they have changed them in the past few years).

things are often changed on cheap used cars w/o an evil intent. Only when prices rise does every little detail out place seem strange.
At one time these cars sold for a few hundred dollars and cheaply keeping them on the road was all that mattered, not posterity.

Doug already posted this in a separate entry and I am just trying to keep all of the discussions on this Kar in one place. It is back on Ebay again with no changes:
