My buck tag has info on the last two lines, " RM PTO HP ", and the last line says, " STEREO VINYL TOP-2 ". Some of this is obvious, but the rest? Thanks.<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Duncan, The PTO you have listed is most likely PIO which is Performance Image Option (GT). My conjecture on the RM would be Remote Mirror.

I think Vinyl Top 2 is a black vinyl top - my '66 has the same thing on the buck tag.

Here's a link on buck tags. Note that it's a German based Mustang website. http://www.ponysite.de/fmcog/to_alt/bbtd.htm

Is the info at the start of this article correct on which plants used buck tags ?? I thought that it was Dearborn that did not use them ??
-
The conventional wisdom is that during this time period only the Metuchen plant used them.
Maybe others can chime in here.

'c/o' on a buck tag does not mean 'customer order' as we have found original Order Types inconsistent with the buck tag code. Best we can come up with, and what Kevin Marti notes in his Tagbook, is it was an internal code. The 3 digit number is a rotation number.
