Cobra Kit: 2X4 Holley Induction P/N: C6ZZ-6B068-A

  • Cobra kit: Two 4-V High Riser Induction(Dual Quad Holleys), avail. June 1966, p/n: C6ZZ-6B068-A.

Does anyone know the cast #s for the manifold and front/rear carbs?

I would like to put together a repro kit or buy used original!

If you had your choice between cobra kits what would it be?

    Three 2-V Induction (C4DZ-6B068-A,?

Two 4-V Low Riser w/Carter carbs and stelling and helling air (before June 1966 - p/n C4OZ-6B068-E)?

    Four 2-V Weber Induction (48 IDA Weber - p/n C5OZ-6B068-A)?

Or the above Dual Holley kit?

  • Have you looked around the MustangTek site? They don't have pictures of all the different designs but they have quite a few.

There are two intake designs for Holley 2-4V systems. I know one as the 1966 style and the second as the 1967 style. I have only seen one version of the first design but many of the second design as casting numbers changed and lettering changed... same manifold design just different marketing. Street systems and Shelby Group II racers got different size and operation carburetors.

I don't know how the 3-2V system worked out because I sold the car I was wanting to put the system on before I got the carburetors repaired. The first 3-2V system I saw was on a blue 1966 GT350 in 1969 and it sure looked great with all the Cobra aluminum goodies.

  • Ok....I have heard a few opinions...I have found a few different complete weber setups....http://www.inglese.com and http://www.webercarbsdirect.com (both carbureted and fuel injected)....but I have a concern with these being street legal and passing Texas vehicle inspection also this setup is very complex and tuning would be a pain in the a$$...here are the stats!

Ford listed the kits with these HP gains:

    Three 2-V Induction = 12 to 15 hp

Low Rise two 4-V Induction (Carter) = 25 to 30 hp

High Rise two 4-V Induction (Holley) = 30 to 35 hp

Weber Four 2-V Induction = More than 40 hp

    Any more info or opinions?

In Texas there is no inspection of emissions or any other engine compartment inspection of cars this old. You are correct about the tuning complexity. I would first find a competent Weber expert, then buy the system. But once it is dialed in Webers have few issues.

The "WOW" factor of Weber induction is undeniable, and in my opinion, unsurpassed by any other set up. There are ways to make more HP, but nothing has the look of those 8 vertical stacks.

  • If you are just looking for HP, there are tons of ways to get more HP than any of these induction systems.

As another poster mentioned, if you are looking for the "WOW" factor, there is no substitute for the Webers.

If you want something more "correct," it may be a bit more difficult to put together correctly dated Webers, original manifold, etc.

If you just want a set of nice looking and working Webers, you may want to speak with Jim Inglese http://www.jiminglese.com/

He started Inglese Induction Systems that you mention above and sold the company quite some time ago. He is apparently back into Webers himself. I purchased a set up from him in the early '80's for my '66 GT350. I had great luck with them. I sold the car a long time ago to a friend and the Webers are still working great for him.

  • Here are the pictures of my Holley set-up. If you cannot read the numbers, casting is...

The only thing I can find on the intake is fomoco and firing order. Pony carburators says this is correct for june of '66 or later.

  • 66kcode,

Its pretty rare to find the complete intake and carbs setup. I haven't seen C60A-9510-A an -B carbs very often and I'd sure like to use your pics of the intake and any more you got of the carbs for my website (mustangtek.com).

  • If original things are on the shelf, why not play with other setups, might be fun .<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
