Nope, according to Howard, block not from a shelby
-
Quote from s2ms
Based on the date code this block could potentially be from an earlier 65 GT350. It would be a good idea to contact Howard Pardee, SAAC's 65-66 GT350 Registrar, just to make sure.
Howard's email is: 65-66registrar@saac.com
Worth checking for sure.
Thanks for the tip

I don't see much of a difference but might just be the way it turned out after he highlighter the numbers.
Block is 6 bolt

The block is a 65 Hipo block with the large main caps. Casting is C5AE-6015-E with date code 4M12. Also has serial number 5R09K175778 stamped on the lower front right hand side. Currently the block is standard bore but does have a sleeve on #7 cylinder.

Thats all the info I have for the moment. I'm just posting this for a freind who found the block. When I get the price from my friend I will post it here. Who knows maybe current owner could be getting their baby back where it belongs.

Runners on 2x4 intake C6ZZ-6B068-A and shelby intake SFJD-9425-E are the same layout but 66kcode's intake has different runner layout. Wonder which is better ?
Bellow is c6zz-6b068-a setup in my 68 gt350. Carbs are reversed to accommodate use of 427 style progressive linkage.

66kcode,
Its pretty rare to find the complete intake and carbs setup. I haven't seen C60A-9510-A an -B carbs very often and I'd sure like to use your pics of the intake and any more you got of the carbs for my website (mustangtek.com).

Another interesting marking to share. I noticed this shape earlier but didn't mention it. On rad support driver side there is this rusty big "X". Hopefully you can see it in the picture.

Today I took my time and carefully peeled away the layers of paint covering rad support only to find small fragments of a red paint on the outer fringes were the X is located. Not much left of the red that hadn't flaked off and rusted over the years but it seems obvious the X had been painted in red over bare metal then covered in black.
Never seen this before. Anybody know what the X is all about.

Big guessing game I got going [Blocked Image: http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff31/c8zf/DSC05330.jpg]
Difference between markings on driver and passenger side is driver side markings are on top of base paint as opposed to passenger side with markings on bare metal then painted over. At least that's what it looks like. The reason I say this is because as soon as I started rubbing all markings vanished on driver side. On passenger side the more i removed layers guck and pain the more the markings appeared.
Other markings
found some markings behind the battery on fender apron but can't make out what they are.

Below rad support on crossmember 3 digits in pink. Looks like "259"

And driver front apron inside the wheel well 321 stacked verticaly and right next to that is a 330

Been cleaning up the front ent of my k code and underneath a few layers of paint on the rad support came across these markings. Most are kind of obvious but on passenger side have no idea of what BL or 8L could mean.

Hi all
Been playing with Mustangs for over 30 years and just added a 66 GT coupe Kcode to my little collection.
The car is a bit of a mistery. See, the car has a misprint T instead of a usual K on the inner fender apron serial. The car been covered on a previous topic
http://www.hipomustang.com/hpmx/topic.asp…chTerms=stamped
This topic discussion made my decision real easy cause after checking the car out for myself I also became convinced the car has not been tampered with. So far the car has all correct parts and have not found any evidence to support otherwise. Everything checks out and IMO the car is 100% legit.
Anyway, the car is very solid but it ain't very pretty. Future plans are to turn it into a vintage racer. But for now lots of fun just enjoying the car

cheers
