BIG!!! Rally Pac Question

  • Hi all.

Someone flipped out over the size of my Rally-Pac. Since I'm a newbie it didn't strike me as odd. I have the original paperwork for the car which shows it was ordered with a Rally-Pac. My question is, is this standard or is it possibly a carry over part from an earlier K model? My car is an April 65 model.

Here's the link to the pics:

Thanks for any comments in advance.

    Regards,

    René

  • Rally pac looks original - but the Tach doesn't look like any original Ford I've seen. It does look like some '60's vintage Sun Tachs I've seen.

The body of the unit is correct for the Kar. As others have stated, the tach mechanism is an aftermarket part. The clock mechanism is out of a high profile unit. The chrome second hand is the clue on this.

    Hi all.

I gather my Rally Pac body is high profile, so does that mean my clock is correct?

Does anyone have a clear photo they can post here or email me of what the tach mechanism should look like?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    René

Your Rally-Pac body is the low profile type which is correct for your car. The tach and clock mechanisms are not correct. The clock mechanism is out of a high profile type like in the pictures already posted to this post. The tach mechanism is an aftermarket piece as has already been stated earlier in this post.

The pictures posted are of a "High Profile" Pac as requested...

Well, these pictures show the 65 standard interior

type rally pack and Rene has the 65 pony interior/

    66 type.

OK, Rene asked for a picture of the High Profile style tach, and didn't specify he had the Pony Interior with a Low Profile Rally Pac. Sorry for the confusion.

  • Hi Gene.

Thanks for the pics. Sorry for the confusion. Yes my interior is the pony type.

I learned something new!! I thought low profile meant the depth of the clock and tach. It just dawned on me the it meant there was no joining piece as it were between the tach and the clock.

    Man do I feel stupid.

Anyway, thanks for all your help. Now I'll have to track down some NOS internals for my Rally-Pac.

    Regards,

    René

No need to feel that way, Rene. I wish you luck in tracking down the pieces needed for your Rally-Pac. It has been reproduced (again), and the latest copy seems to be fairly well done for the money. If you are intent on having the original parts, it may be easier to buy a complete Low Profile Rally-Pac.

  • My 65 K has a pony int. and a high profile 8k pac which apparently is not correct. I would like to trade mine for a low profile 8k pac if somebody has one. Thanks, Ed
