Steady drip of coolant from bottom of water pump appeared today.
Guess it needs to be replaced? Kar is a 12 year old restoration.
Any recommendations on where to purchase one for my May 1965 K?
Thanks Steve

If it's an original Ford piece, get it rebuilt.
If you do not have an original Ford water pump, I may have a rebuilt correct one in stock. Please PM me if you need one.

thanks guys
I will take it off and see what I have
and let you know
Does anyone sell a kit to rebuild an original pump ? As I guess I will have this problem one day.
Thanks
is there a good link
to how to rebuild a water pump?
iowa
There is a guy selling kits on ebay. The item number is 360313859961.
I am searching for a pump as well for my 67. He didn't have the dates I was after at the time.

Raven, I just sent you a PM regarding your 67 pump.

OK removed water pump no problem. Its aluminum with 6 vanes.
Casting number is C5AE 8505 C which doesn't seem to match the numbers in Tony's book but Mannel mentions this in his 289 book. My car is May 1965. No obvious signs that could cause leak. Engine rebuild is 12 years old maybe gasket just worn out?
Thinking should have pump rebuilt while off. Checked previous e-bay link.
Any other recommendations for rebuilder? I am in Chicago.
Thanks again as always for your help.
Take Care
Steve
Steve,
I've had very good service from Automotive Friction near Portland, Oregon - http://www.autofriction.com.
Is your 6-vane impeller an original HiPo or the generic stamped steel 6-blade impeller commonly used on rebuilds? I only ask because many people confuse the two..
Dave
I'll check
how do I tell the difference?
Thanks
Steve
Steve, The original 6 vane impeller is cast iron compared to the generic stamped steel replacement. I can also get your pump rebuilt and guarantee that you will get your original one back.
-Fred-
Looking like mine is an old replacement.
Blades are not cast iron
O'Reilly's seems to have a similar one for $30
Since doesn't look like mine is original from
1965 I am going to check their replacement before
deciding.
Thanks
Steve
Steve, The one you are taking off may be a replacement but the numbers are correct for your Kar. If you just want to get it running, the aftermarket one is fine however you should still get yours rebuilt to put back on at a later date. My rebuilder has the proper cast iron 6 vane impeller to make yours correct when he rebuilds it.
-Fred-
Ok I understand and will follow up over week end with PM?
Thanks again for help.
Steve, I just sent you a PM.

I just had an original one rebuilt yesterday here in Kansas City for $55.00. I did not want to take a chance in losing an original pump. I carried it in and handed it directly to the man doing the rebuild. First pump I had him do was years ago and it's still working perfect.
The OEM HiPo six vane has three holes in the back and is cast.
Ford did sell the impeller as a separate over-the-counter part through Ford Racing up until about two years ago. Some of them turn up from time to time on ebay and few fellows here have sold them.
Here images of the OEM impeller on an original Ford pump that I had rebuilt by the Automtive Friction folks in Oregon - their service was outstanding:

Wow
that is pretty neat. Mine definitely has a replacement stamped vane.
