Ok I understand and will follow up over week end with PM?
Thanks again for help.
Looking like mine is an old replacement.
Blades are not cast iron
O'Reilly's seems to have a similar one for $30
Since doesn't look like mine is original from
1965 I am going to check their replacement before
deciding.
Thanks
Steve
I'll check
how do I tell the difference?
Thanks
Steve
OK removed water pump no problem. Its aluminum with 6 vanes.
Casting number is C5AE 8505 C which doesn't seem to match the numbers in Tony's book but Mannel mentions this in his 289 book. My car is May 1965. No obvious signs that could cause leak. Engine rebuild is 12 years old maybe gasket just worn out?
Thinking should have pump rebuilt while off. Checked previous e-bay link.
Any other recommendations for rebuilder? I am in Chicago.
Thanks again as always for your help.
Take Care
Steve
thanks guys
I will take it off and see what I have
and let you know
Steady drip of coolant from bottom of water pump appeared today.
Guess it needs to be replaced? Kar is a 12 year old restoration.
Any recommendations on where to purchase one for my May 1965 K?
Thanks Steve
I have a 65 K. The fuel pump has the filter in the can which screws on to the pump. I ordered the new filter element from NPD. The rubber ring/gasket they sent along doesn't fit. Its too big. Does anyone know where I can order the correct ring for the hipo fuel pump? Old one is worn and pump is leaking.
Thanks
Steve
Pulled transmission to replace clutch. I'm putting it all back together and am having trouble keeping clutch fork/pivot arm on the bell housing fulcrum. I can't remember on which side of the fulcrum the retaining clip/spring goes?
Thanks Steve
Works great!
Thanks
Steve
I am curious where I might buy this type of conversion kit
Thanks
Steve
Any suggestions where I might go to have my front end alignment checked and repaired?
I live on the South side of Chicago.
Thanks,
Steve
Thanks for the prompt replies.
Yesterday neighbor arrived in his cobra replica. Drove it from Denver to Chicago. Has a 428 with side pipes, plenty fast and loud. Won't start when hot, starter won't crank engine fast enough. Heat from headers probably the problem? Does anyone have a good suggestion on how to shield the starter. Should the starter be replaced? Checked archive surprised header heat and starters not discussed. Maybe I missed it.
Thanks, Steve
Nice looking Kar coming along, congrats!
What color is the interior? In the 1980's I had a honey gold C-code fastback with a green interior. I was told once that green was a rare interior color.
Well this is easy for me.
5 years ago my wife granted clearance for a K with one condition...
it had to be a convertible.
Just like many of us did, my kids have learned to sit on their towels in the summer, rather than risking that good old hot vinyl. <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>
Thanks for the info. I'm curious to hear how the replacement goes.
Steve
How well does your fuel gauge work w/ your fuel cell? I have a Fuel Safe cell in my non-GT '65 and followed their gauge wiring modification procedure. Gauge has never been quite right.
Steve
Thanks guys.
Guess I should have looked more closely for the washers...
