Have a good time! Here's hoping you get some good pictures you can post for us to see.

  • Have a great time at Goodwood.

It was at this time of year in '79 the family & I arrived at Lakenheath and temps were in the mid to high 60's. Not cold, but I was really surprised to see a few bare chested old gents, trying to catch a last chance sun tan while they did some gardening. Good luck on that plan I thought.

As for tomorrow here in central Austin Texas, a group of us will be heading to McGregor for a Mustang show put on by the Heart of Texas(HOT) Mustang club. As Bos mentioned, it will be in the mid nineties. However, the 2 by 70 A/C unit should keep everything tolerable. [Blocked Image: http://s4.tinypic.com/30w2jyw_th.jpg]

  • Thanks fellas

Just got back - exhausted but happy.

Goodwood motor circuit is formed from the old perimiter track of RAF Westhampnett a prominant WW2 fighter base.

Racing started after the war and sadly the circuit closed in 1966.

In 1998 the circuit was re opened and it was decided to carry on where it was left off - so nothing post 1966 is allowed on site and everyone is encouraged to arrive in period dress.

The attention to detail is fantastic.

We left the Mustang at home this year and went in our red Elan. The shots of the Elan in the field are the car park !!!!! some amazing stuff in there.

Grab a beer and enjoy - slide show button top right.

  • Glad your day was a success. Thanks for the great collection of photos to drool over. I noticed a Boss 429 in the mix. Wow!!

At the 'Stang show in McGregor TX yesterday, there was both a '69 & '70 Boss 302 to lust over. I was fortunate to cop a 1st place in the 65-73 F/B class with the Hipo. The Boss cars were judged seperately. Good thing, as the '70 car would have pummeled me.

Just saw a White '69 BOSS 429 sell at the Mecum Auction this weekend for only $220,000!

  • Mark,

Thanks for sharing. Beautiful Lotus Elan and co-driver.

I used to own a Lotus Cortina with 25K miles on the odometer

in the 80's in Sweden. That car drove like a gocart.

    It's in Norway nowadays.

  • Mark, what a feast for the vintage eyes....Had one Elan and 16 Sevens. The Plus 2 the elegant choice for sure. Were there any right hand drive Cobras, do you know any Cobra owners in England? A PM would be appreciated...

  • Charlie, congratulations on the win - go beat a Boss next time.

The Boss I saw had 'price on application' I did not bother as the bronzy fastback is up for £42k. All those cars are expensive, he does not sell them very quick.

Bo the missus thanks you for the compliment and asked what you look like, she has a thing for Americans. I told her you were fat and ugly

    .

We parked next to a MK1 Cortina on one of the days, they are making strong money again now.

Sorry some of the pics were not too good, I only have a small camera which struggles sometimes.

There will be a programme on Brit TV shortly which will be available to watch on the net. I will put up a link as and when.

Duncan, will send you a pm.

So now you know what us daft Brits do on our weekends.

    Cheers for the replys.

    Mark

  • Mark,

Unfortunately you were right about fat and ugly.

Probably because I was born a Swede and moving

to America didn't help in any of those two categories.

    /Bo
