• has anyone made the intermediate mount with the stud or just had the studs made. i may make them if nobody has made them before. Same goes with the frame mounts. I recall seeing some repos with the C4ZE number on them some years back at an MCA show

  • Jim, I know you're just saying this because I just paid serious money for some old used motor mounts, aren't you?!?!!... I hadn't heard of reopos of the cast-iron frame mounts. The intermediate wedges should be a piece of cake... I was going to make them for myself, based on what I found with the block mounting plate. But for the later I got too cheap at the last moment on a pair someone had up for bids.<img src=images/icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • There are alot of us who need the intermediate triangular left and right hand pieces for the motor mount. If you produce them you would have alot of folks, me included, wanting to purchase them from you. I hope you do take on the project. I just bought the long stud(carriage bolt) from AMK. Paul.

  • I'd be interested.

Something like that would be great. By combining a repro lower steel wedge piece with the more readily available Fairlane uppers, you could end up with a pretty close approximation of the hipo Mustang mount.

  • I sure would like to see someone come up with some as somebody else talked about doing it but haven't seen any yet.Sure would bust the bubble of those who want to rape somebody for a set!

  • My question went out to slabsidebob I believe it was and Marv pulled his ad as he posted NO price for his complete set.The lower steel welded portion is what is needed and will kill all the people looking to rape guys and will get the cost down where it should be if you do them.Shouldn't be that hard and I'm sure you'll have plenty of business!

  • Jim,

I find it interesting that you now want to repro the motor mounts and counter your advice to me. Last fall when I called and told you that I couldn't find any mounts and that the prices where sky high and that repros would help the market - I distinctly remember you spending alot of time on the phone trying to convince me that I shouldn't make any from the nice onces I acquired because it wasn't worth the time and the demand was too low. I have access to a guy who can make anything - if you need help let me know. Good luck with the repros.

  • There are those that advocate going to the '66 and later motor mounts-- cheaper and significantly stronger. I've had a Gold Card Judge tell me just that with my early '66. In fact, I've been receiving that advice for years. Economicly it makes sense; but this hobby/addiction doesn't make sense.

  • Tom, I do not see where the late 65 and all of 66 style mounts would be stronger. In the way the 65 and early 66 Hipo mounts are built, I feel that it is pretty indistructible. I see no way to break the rubber apart like you can on the later style mounts. The standard 65 and early 66 mounts are definitely weaker as there is nothing to keep the rubber from seperating. Is it possible that you are referring to the standard 65 and early 66 mounts?

  • I just purchased these lower wedge pieces on ebay they look exact, and look great. I had made some before but I had just used a grade 8 bolt for the stud. Again these look exact, can't wait for them to arrive to put in my car.

  • acman63, I just received these reproduction motor mounts and they are 1st rate. I would recommend them to anyone. The bends are sharp, the edges are sharp, the finish is great, the welds are 1st rate.

    Great job,

    Scott

  • In reading all of this I wonder where all the originals went from the cars? it would seem that even if someone installed a different engine into a K code that they would still use the same mounts....will these mounts work in any other Ford product such as Fairlanes, Falcons, Mavericks???

  • The only other car that the Hipo mounts will fit as they are made are 63-65 Falcons and Comets.

  • In answer to the question Where did all the Hipo mounts go?

During the 60's and 70's the hipo's were not that valuable of a car.

The owners of these cars converted them to 66 mounts or the originals got bent or broken on the cars that were raced and cheaper mounts were installed in their place.

In the first place there were only about 17,500 hipos built between 65 and 67 and probably less than 100 factory replacement mount sets built by ford. Mine is one of five known early k codes that were built in San Jose. Mine was raced and wrecked in 1971 and sat in a field amongst cattle for 23 years although the previous owner had pulled the original engine and transmission from the car from the car and saved the cam frozen Tri- power block, the mounts were gone for good. Mine had 66 mounts with a chain welded to them. The car would have never been restored if it had not been a K code. Now that the new owners want to resore these cars back to original we need the mounts to do it. just some info.
