You need to be looking for a '65, not a '66.
No difference in sheet metal gauge, but obviously lots of little differences throughout the car.

the 66 is practically free
and i plan to look at each part
and use only if identical.
the floor is not as bad as i thot,
so will try and save as much of the original
metal as possible.
i'm trying to figure out what happened to this car.
i think it was picked up by a fork lift,
with the forks perpendicular to the front and back of car,
and the rear ends of the front rails
got pushed up thru the rotten floor!
whoo!
the car is totally striped now
except for the steering gear box
and steering linkage;
can't find my pitman arm puller?
plan to build a metal frame under car
to square it up,
weld supporting braces in,
put it all on a rotisserie,
blast it,
and then start replacing metal.

one side has HiPo motor mount

Hi Iowa,
I think 750.00 is a steel with the shifter included, if you can get it for that.

I recognize the VIN on this tranny. It is the one bought by a vendor for just $65.00 (the purchasers claim not mine) from another vendor at the mid Apr 2010 swap meet at New Braunfels TX. I posted the details on the forum after getting back home from the meet. Oddly, even though he was aware it was a Hipo piece based on the tag, he didn't know about the factory VIN stamping until I mentioned it to him. We rolled it over, and there it was.
I imagine that little detail probably added 300.00 to his asking price.[Blocked Image: http://s4.tinypic.com/30w2jyw_th.jpg]
i see it's back on for $950 starting!!

Yeah, that is what I said in my last post. I bid on it earlier but will watch it now. I will see how I enjoy my C4 and if I want to shift, might step up to a T-5. Will have car ready this weekend with the 3.80 gears and hope that it doesn't drive me nuts. I am running a 4.30 on my '93 5.0 and with the T-5 it is great on the highway. Never fear the gear, but...
is there a good link that describes the various transmissions?
i am very ignorant about them.
all i know are the T-18 wwii jeep one's!!
