Drive Shaft Markings and Engine Rebuild

You are absolutely correct. Some things said were out of line, but the constant negativity from others creates tension about the whole subject. I post pictures to share with people what i've found on this San Jose car in hopes that someone would find the information useful. I have thousands of pictures of this car including markings found upon disassembly, pictures of reassembly and such. One of the reasons i don't post more than i do is because of the negativity and dislike that i have recieved since first joining this site.

You have a total of 33 posts on this site. I went back and read through every one of them since you joined here and could not find one single remark made in a negative tone towards you or your car. By all accounts, information was graciously provided to you whenever you had questions. I also read that in February, that you posted about the carpet, asking if a coupe carpet would fit in your fastback. I responded that you could buy the correct carpet from Va. Mustang. Several months later, you purchase a coupe carpet anyway.

J.R., any negativity that you perceive from this forum or from me personally must be something that you've come up with on your own. I was the person that explained to you what the car was and gave you tons of unconditional information. It was exciting to know the first unit SJ car had been found and on top of that was a hi-po fastback... very cool. Even though your only motivation in talks with me was determining the value of the car, I still gave you answers to all your questions. Only thing I can think of is that some of my answers were not to your liking. Also, if you remember, I was the one that told you about this website and encouraged you to join and share information about the car. It sure feels like a slap in the face when I see this kind of attitude.

Even after your rude response, I still responded to your post in a well-thought, informative manner. Even though I said it was not my job to police the NPD catalog, I did go ahead and e-mail Scott Halseth and let him know the situation.

Honestly, this group of enthusiasts here are one of the best. The information on K codes is 2nd to none. I've gotten to know quite a few of the members here very well and have formed lifetime friendships. We all share a passion, even if the flavors are a little different here and there.

.........I know through my private conversations and emails with Jim Smart how he feels and what he thinks about the car. I'm not sure if you have seen the articles i posted a while back, but i will post them again. If i should believe and take thoughts and opinions from anyone, Jim Smart would be the go-to guy (beings that he wrote the book, literally). Wouldn't you agree??..........

Don't read all the online post Jim does (sorry Jim if you read this

I'll make a point of discussing yours and the earlier fastbacks we he's around next time and have lunch.

Not sure (and I'm certain he will agree - know him for allot of years) that there is a single "go to guy"

Good luck with the car - haw every you choose to modify it

I've looked at the posts regarding your car and don't interpret them as "being constantly negative from others", nor do I see any "negativity and dislike". There is a healthy exchange of information among folks on this site and we occasionally disagree with each other and butt heads, but we keep it friendly and we work through it and the hobby is better as a result. I honestly don't think you've been treated badly or singled out, and choosing to not share information about your car is your choice, but that seems to be unwarranted and negative response.

Jim is a great guy and very knowledgeable, but these cars are unique. I spent time corresponding and talking with him about the Arvinode system and he truthfully wasn't aware of it until it surfaced on this forum. If you look at this month's MM article on HiPo exhausts you'll get the idea; we all worked together to collect the information and we reproduced some long lost K code parts. None of us have a monopoly on knowledge about K codes, and we all want to learn more. A lot of the research that goes into making these cars great is being done right here, and not contributing would be a lose/lose situation for all.

  • Getting the fine points of parts and marks of these cars is important if you have someone willing to be a man and show or tell you but LOOK out if your black listed or black balled as I've been on occasion as you'll have remarks removed, items for sale removed and people cut you out to sell same part or questions NOT answered. It's been a click from day one and still is!..jr.S don't sweat it as noone knows all and really doesn't matter when you think about it because someone smarts off or doesn't know when to shut their mouth but that's the difference in class as facts are the facts

  • Many of us have had questions that went unanswered, or had items removed that were in the wrong place or inappropriate. You can choose to whine about it or you can have fun with it, the choice is yours.

  • The point being again that you should keep your nose on your own face was how the post got twisted unless there is something to do with fact about these cars!

  • Just telling it like it is but I see you didn't have anything to add to facts on this perticular subject other then popping off behind a computer across the other side of the country!...Try taking your own advice

  • I'm sure this fascinating to some, but I suspect I can speak for many, ... let's just get back to the cars, and leave the bickering for face to face real life, and keep the forum a place for informational exchange.....
