Thinking of going from 3.50 to 3.89 axle.
Also changing stock torque converter.
Looking for better performance on the street.
Stock motor.
What do those of you with C4 trannys recommend?
Thanks

Is your C-4 a true hipo, or something else? Are you interested in hipo components?<img src=images/icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Yes,it is the original transmission.
The torque converter is a run of the mill low stall unit
66 GT K coupe / 3.50 open rear.
Would like a bit more performance
Looking for suggestions and what works for others.
Not looking to stay completely original.

Paxton!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a 289 Hipo that I ran on the street with a C4 and found that with 3.50 gears all that needed upgrading was a higher stall converter.

I am running 3.89 traction lock with a c-4. Perfect for backroads,
street cruzing and dragstrip, it keeps the rpm's up where the Hipo likes it. Highway cruzing? Forget about it.
Second on the c-4 3.89 perfect combo...unless you drive highways or care about mpg
I ran some 3.89's in a 66 Coupe a couple of years back with a C4,it was a bit much honestly and I'm a die hard 1/4 Mile Hot Rodder..3.55's are about perfect with a C-4
I swapped the the 3.50 in my '66 GT350 for a 3.89 many years ago, and was very pleased with the results. Even got pretty decent fuel economy with the Cobra/Carter low-rise dual quad setup.
I also installed a Trans-Go reprogramming kit in the C4, with a '67 valve body - gave me a lot more control over the shifting.
