How many K Codes 65???

  • Hi guys

I have the K-Code book somewhere but kan not find it and the statistiks on this site are a bit konfusing.

Kan anybody tell me how many K-Codes Konvertible where built

in 65 in San Jose, Metuchen and Dearborn?

    Thanks Jerry

hope the K writing don´t give you too much trouble ;o)

  • Hi that does not answer my question.

On top it says 7273 Hipos where built 64-66.

But in the list below if i add 64,5-65 and 66

i only get roughly 1600 cars not 7273.

So??? Can you bring light inside the tunnel?

    Thanks Jerry

The total for 64.5-65 is 7273

  • No statistics exist today as to body style vs engine type including HP for 1964 thru 1966 Mustangs. All assembly line documents were destroyed by Ford. The only number for HP engines in those years was for total produced and that was a marketing figure.

  • back in the 70's in jackson mississippi (population about 250,000)i remember about 25 K cars including mine. there were 4 k's in mccomb ms (population about 20,000) along with a 66 shelby H and a 67 shelby 500 and a (2)68.5 428 fastback mustangs and these are cars i knew about. there were a lots of 65-66 mustangs seen out in the country side. i almost forgot about the 65 fb K shell sittng in a field in crystal springs ms. that a guy bought to "rebody" his rotted to pieces (rusted) new york bought 66 shelby back in the 70's. btw those population numbers are what it was in the 70's.

  • What is being said here is that all we are left with are educated guesses...We here at the forum and the registry can only account for the ones that are REPORTED...

  • Hi Jerry and all,

I was in the Ford research library for a full day a few years ago and when I asked about pre 67 archives the response was we lost those records in a warehouse fire.Kevin Marti also says the computor records were deleted for pre 67 fords--someone or somehow the wrong button was pushed. We are very lucky to at least have these overall numbers and may never know any more than this. The only body style and assembly plant numbers that are available are for 1967 and up.Hope this answers your question.HIPO Engines are rare!So are the cars....Ever heard of a 900 series Falcon?

    Regards P.D.

  • The problem is, where did these numbers come from? I tried to track down the source, but the source (Peter Sessler) would not return any of my inquiries over the years. HOT ROD said 17,000 engines were produced (said that in 1972), yet my estimates go to about 24,000 when using Sessler's numbers, along with other numbers I have. There are about 4,114 GT-350s, 580 Cobras, and 5,175 Fairlanes. Add in the 13,231 of Sessler's and we get 23,100. There is close to another 1,000 spread out among Griffiths, Comets, and race cars. Anyway, 17,000 seems to be the lower end of the range and 24,000 perhaps the upper range.

  • Hi guys

Thanks for your replys. Too bad that everything starts for 67

when Mustangs became ugly! ha ha ha
