1964 1/4 Mustang Sports Car Special Coupe, can anyone tell me more about? Was this the prototype of the GT-350?
Thanks!

I have never heard that label before.
Thanks, are the 64 1/2 K Coupes rare, I heard numbers of less than 100 made? Some have said these are pre GT-350 and were kind of test cars for the Shelby's that we now know. I could not readily find anything online regarding.
There are no records available with numbers of 64.5 K coupes made. The Shelby club may have more information on this: http://www.saac.com

People say many things. 64 1/2 K codes are definitely pre GT350.
A statement like the K code Mustang being tests for a future Shelby seems far fetched to me.
Two K-code coupes were used in the early development of the GT350. They were delivered to Shelby American in July 1964 and mainly used for suspension testing and development. Possibly these are the cars you are thinking of?

What about the 4 '64 Tour De France/Monte Carlo rally cars they were early Hipo Coupes and had some Shelby like modifications. Here's some info
Ok, more details, car is in Texas, black coupe, K matching numbers with 4 speed, 15" steel wheels, 64 1/2, some floor rust, quarters nice as well as fenders and doors. Original paint, 105K miles, I would say needs about 10K to get up to decent condition. Value as it sits now? Only thing that is missing is the 9" rear, otherwise, all there.
How was it determined that the car in TX was one of/was the Shelby mule?
Just asking as I've heard a few owners claiming they had the car(s)
AFAIK SAAC has the VIN's of the two notchback test mules, which were white, so it should be easy to confirm if the car mentioned is one of those.
Wonder if the red fastback has ever turned up or been identified. Guess I need to ask Howard next time
