Any recommendations for collector car insurance that allows just comprehensive while the cars are in storage and undrivable? I recently change insurers for my daily cars and the new company won’t insure the mustangs unless they are registered and drivable.

If undriveable for a year or more, my Haggerty people have told me that you can get comp only. It has to be over a year, though.

I have State Farm, and have 2 cars that I haven't driven in 10 years ('65 Mustang and '77 T-bird). I pay comprehensive only on them. The premiums will vary depending on the value of the car and what other coverages you have with them, but I average about $100 a year for coverage on both vehicles.

Hagerty has "restoration" insurance, for like $50-100 a year.
-
I have Hagerty and often wonder how such good coverage can be so affordable. I had one minor claim and they were great to work with.

After more than 10 years with Hagerty, I switched to Grundy this past autumn... tripled the insurance value and ended up with lower rates. And - more lenient driving conditions. (But, I do not know about "wintertime" or "restoration" rates.)

I also use American Collectors. Always have. Never had a reason to look elsewhere. They took care of my only claim quickly and no rate increase. I would certianly reccomend them.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll give both Hagerty and Grundy a call tomorrow.<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>

Marv,
Contact Parish Heacock for quote. They are a new MCA sponsor and getting into the classic car insurance big time.
-
Grundy had the best rates last summer when I did the comparo.

I have State Farm for my '65 K and Parish Heacock for my '93 5.0 LX. Parish is the only company that would insure my '93 as a limited driven show car.
