  • Hi Tony,

My father is thinking about selling his '65 K convert. It is not a GT but is very nice.It is wimbleton white with red standard interior. It has it's original VIN stamped block, original 4 speed trans and 9" rear.It is very nice car that has been restored. He is only thinking about selling as he is getting up there in years and does not drive it much.If interested, email me at gmurphy@mountaincable.net .Thanks....Greg.

Tony, mine is officially FOR SALE. Members on here have seen it in person. 1966, Nov 65 built, Wimbledon White, Red Pony, VIN stamped, two induction systems, two hoods and some extra parts. No problem helping with shipping.

Pics can be seen here: http://www.bluecollarperformance.com/66stang.html

You can reach me through that website, call toll free or e-mail. I'll e-mail you the listing of parts that come with it and all the details.

  • Hi there guys all great Kars that have been forwarded however i am looking for a very correct example ie original drivetrain VIN stamped original sheet metal etc etc...i know it may be a difficult one to find but i would rather wait til i find one than buy something else.

    Thanks again

    Tony

  • Good Luck Tony, sounds like you want a needle in a haystack LOL. I was happy to just have NOS quarters put on properly.

I won't be taking the fleabay route. Going to start advertising the old fashion way.

  • Beagle1's car is right here staring at you wondering what you are waiting for. I think you will searching for many years to find the perfect car you are describing - maybe decades.

  • I have a nephew that has been waiting for the perfect 65 GTO for 10 years. in the mean time, he has passed on cars that were 90% what he wanted. he could have at least been driving SOMETHING in those 10 years and sold it off when he found his dream. if that aint bad enough, 2 years ago he bought a basket case because he couldnt find what he wanted, and still has nothing to drive. I dont understand his thought process.

  • i already have a 66GTK Red on Red so i am not in a rush or panic as some others may be that dont have an existing Kar.

Beagle your Kar is nice however i want something that is close to original, not saying your Kar is not nice just not what i am looking for.

Have to agree with Bill, I bought my K in January - it wasnt perfect with some incorrect parts, but since I have been collecting and now she's almost 100%. Now all the right bits are there I can start to make 'em shiney. And i've had some great days out already.

  • I have been debating on getting back to original appearing.

I think next month the cast iron intake and concours restored 4100 will go back on. As well as the replated valve covers and stock hood.

I won't put redlines back on it, won't get my money back on those.

Thanks for the compliment Tony. I COMPLETELY understand someone having their mind focused. There's a butt for every seat, and someone will be sitting in mine soon. Your Kar is out there somewhere, it just needs to surface.

For other potential interested parties: As far as I know, the only thing not original sheetmetal on mine is the rear qtrs. But those are NOS Ford.

Don't know how many K's are running around with NOS pistons and rods in them LOL.

  • Ron,you got a killer car as I love the way it looks.Did you lead the roof back in when the qtrs. were put on and how did they put them on as welding was concerned?

  • The guy that put the quarters on is a "pro" so to speak. He has done a bunch of first gen Mustangs and has a jig he made just for these cars. It was properly done with the correct seams and filler. Many local experts have been all ovder it, and one guy was amazed when I told him the qtrs. were replaced. He was telling someone that it still had the original qtrs. until I corrected him.

The thing that impressed be the most is the way the seam is at the rocker. I walk the Mustang shows and so many cars don't have that seem. For whatever reason many people fill that in?

I really wish he WOULD NOT have lost the camera with all the step by step pics! Supplied him with a camera to take pics along the way, which he did. Went to get the film...one of his "helpers" put the roll in with about 500 other in a file cabinet draw <img src=images/icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

To be honest, I have totally lost interest in the Kar. It is not getting justice sitting around, be better served with someone that enjoys 40 year old Kars. 40 miles on it last year and 100 the summer before. I just prefer messing with the 2005+ cars and driving them more.

  • I don't think it's a case of "takers". As has been stated here before, what you want is very rare survivor of a very rare car in a very desirable color/option combo. The few that have such a car are not likely to part with it. If/when they do, you need to be standing there with cash in hand, because said car will go quick. The current owner knows he/she will probably never be able to replace this car if they sold it. Good luck and be patient, this could take you years, many of them.

  • point taken....although stranger things have happened like the way i bought my 66GTK Fastback. A person close to the site recieved an email who then forwarded it on to me which eventuated in a deal before the car got advertised in the US.I suppose there has to be a willingness to sell to someone overseas which i found a simple transaction believe it or not.

    Thanks

    Tony

  • Hi Tony,

I looked for a 67 K fastback for nearly 2 years. I wanted one with deluxe trim and with colour, preferably matching numbers or at least correct K code driveline.

Looked and waited, looked and waited. The one that I ended up with has standard trim, acapulco blue. So I settled on that. Keep looking something may pop up.

    Cheers

Took a while but it was worth the wait.

I even think it may be a 1 of 1 with the color/interior combo...

If someone can show me how to add pics i will add some

    Thanks again
