hipo xchange financial support

  • Here's the deal......This site is really important to us. If you are reading this, it has value to you and therefore your financial support is owed. Really. The amount is up to you, yes these are hard times, but even a modest amount spread over the membership would go a long way to ensure this site continues to be the best source for our needs and our enjoyment. $25, $10, $100, what you can manage, but SOMETHING.....come on PEOPLE.. This is an unsolicited pitch from one member..... Lets all get with the program. Cheers..!!<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • I appreciate the sentiment but I don't know how appropriate it would be until I find the time to improve the site or fix some of the issues. Don't take this the wrong way, I certainly won't refuse any contributions. It's just that I haven't been able to commit the kind of time I use to commit to the site.

I'd like to upgrade to the VBulletin boards but that would require me to convert the entire registry side of the site to php and I just don't have the time. So if somebody out there has the necessary skills to convert from asp to php as well as time to spend, I could certainly use some help.

Thanks to all who have contributed to the site both monetarily and with their knowledge and expertise of these vehicles. [Blocked Image: http://raccol.com/images/smileys/thumbsup2.gif]

  • There are those of us who don't have the expertise to help with the technical side of this effort....frankly, it's beyond us... my older generation can't get our arms around it....its beyond me and , I'm guessing,... beyond others as well. the costs are a mix of financial and time/techical effort. ...You out there, that can help the later, well, we salute you and ask for your support as well... I hope you will.<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

That's exactly right...It's a good guess that better than 95% of all internet users have no clue about website design, HTML code, Java/Dhtml scripts, etc, or how to debug and fix problems that happen on websites and computers. We are indebted to those few who have the knowledge and expertise to go beyond the templates and standard applications that are required to make the website work properly.

This site is essentially a "labor of love", and it does not compensate the webmaster or owner for their time and energy spent in this endeavor. Any donations are certainly appreciated and encouraged. Remember, there is a monthly cost to host this site that must be paid to "keep the lights on" whenever we log on.

  • Thanks for a great site. Done! Many of you have saved me $$ and embarrasement of purchasing the wrong parts and have Kontributed many many parts to my future K. Thank you all!!!

  • I made a donation last year after I almost purchased a questionable Kar. Again, thanks to all the input I received from the eKschange members and a special thanks to the site hosts. My donation was a decent donation, but still small compared to the value of the information I have received from this site (and small compared to the mistake I almost made on the Kar purchase). We all need to pay our fair share, in $ form AND in sharing of information.

  • I have an employee that could likely convert whatever is needed.

mail me at stephan at rackco dot com

and I will get him to do it, I also own a web hosting company and design company, so if we need any help in those areas, I can assist.

Vbulletin is nice, especially with the newly added community features, like gallery/blog etc.

  • It's been a while since this topic has been active...If your browser isn't set to the "SHOW ALL TOPICS" option, many newer members have no doubt missed reading this thread.

In light of certain disgruntled members who have recently expressed their impatience and frustrations here, please remember that the site is maintained by a <i>volunteer</i> effort that has worked hard to make this site available day in and day out. Yes, there are still bugs in certain sections of code (that used to work perfectly with the <i>former</i> servers we used), and it mainly impacts the Registry update process online. New VIN numbers are <i>still</i> maintained by Marv Shaner, but they can not be uploaded to the site due to certain technical code problems that continue to exist between the site and the server. As webmaster Hank Doby (RacCol) has stated numerous times, this is NOT A SIMPLE PROBLEM. If it was easy to fix, it would have been done already...

The expense of operating the site is paid year after year by the site owner (and Registry Steward). Would you believe this site has been online almost NINE years already? Any donations will be appreciated. You can do this by using the PayPal link located in the upper left side of this page.
