Oh yes, one more thing. After the kar is relatively warm, it idles around 600 - 700 RPM with choke all the way in. After it is real warm and toasty, idles at 900 RPM with choke all the way in.
Sound normal?
Thanks.
Hey guys - thanks for the comments. Some feed back from me:
The black pipes have existed for couple of years.
I use Sunoco 93 octain gas.
Carb rebuilt / restored by Pony Carbs 3 yrs ago.
Kar otherwise runs like a raped ape. Starts immediately and does not die out. Thanks, guys.

I wonder if one of you guys could give me some advise: lot's of black soot on tail pipes. The choke opens all the way when closed. Should I reduce the fuel mixture? Which adjustment is that? Thanks guys.
Bill G.
I also have the Magnaflow with the X-pipe on my kar (4 years now). I'm using Stan Johnson's (Ford Power Train) tri-y headers. The Magnaflows sound great as do Stan's headers. 100% happy.

ZRay - I looked at your photo display. A lot of neat stuff. Do you have interest in selling one of your Cobra intakes? Please e-mail me at run1ski2@aol.com
Thanks.

I wanted to try something different on my 65 Konv and thought I would solicit some of your guys experience. Thinking of putting an aluminum high rise manifold on to see what it does to performance. Plan to keep Autolite 4100 and leave heads stock. Will put on Stan Johnson's tri-y headers too. It's a street driven car. No shows. Any manifolds you guys found that were particularly good or bad? Thanks guys.

CobraJeff - sent you a PM.

To 289ACE - try e-mailing me outside of this site. The e-mail addess is good - it is used extensively. I'll apprecite communicating with you if this Tiger thing happens. Thanks.
Bill G.
Hey guys - I'm doing this at someone's suggestion - soliciting Tiger info (yes I know this is a K code site; I'm lucky enough to have two 65'K Kodes).
Anyway, I have a shot at a "barn find" Tiger in my area. It appears some of you Kar nuts also have experience with Tigers. I don't know the year yet or particulars as the family has still not let me inspect the car. One note, I will wind up with an extra K engine and, who knows, it may wind up in a Tiger. I appreciate any advice you guys can give. Ah, my wife knows nothing about this yet.

Message to 66Tiger - please shoot me an e-mail @ run1ski2@aol.com.
I have a possible shot at a "barn find" Sunbeam Tiger in my area. The owner has passed away and his family, supposedly, wants to "unload" the car. Don't know what year yet. I would like to set up a communication with someone who is experienced with these cars. Thanks.

Hey Fred; I'm with you. Retain my original balancer and have it machined to allow the correct pulley.
Any further recommendations on locating the Ford stock powering steering set up? Thank you.
Bill G.
Ralph - the Borgeson web site indicates that their power steering unit does not work with manual transmission cars.
Bill G.
Wow, great help from Fred & Ralph Jr. If I understand you guys correctly, you're suggesting the "stock 65/66 Ford" power steering set up along with the newer balancer? Now, to find a stock set up - I notice Kar Mustang sells what looks to me like a stock set up. Of course I should call them; I've spoken with George several times and bought stuff from them. Unless you guys suggest another source? Maybe Kar Mustang's set up is not the "stock" version.
Fred (I've bought some things from you too), hearing that you have actually converted to power steering gives me more confidence in the idea. Thanks so much.
Bill G.
Thanks for the great replys, guys. To 66qtk - weight lifting program, hmmm..... you may have something there. Sounds like the cheapest route; $300 gym membership. I'll consider that.
Ralph Jr - thank you. Your daughter's car was, obviously, not a K kode. I note GT Joe's replay about the harmonic balancer issue. I wonder how the Borgeson unit would work around that. Any thoughts? I'll check their web site and probably call them too.
I'm going to have the engine out of the car for some other work, so if I'm going to power steering, this is probably the time to do it.
Thanks. Bill G.
I'm about to have my K motor taken apart. What's the story on this "Lemans" cam? One of my goals to is pump up the HP, but it's only for street use. Thanks.

My wife of 30 years had always wanted a 65 or 66 red convertible Mustang. So 4 years ago I arrange to give her a surprise birthday gift of a 65 Rangoon red convertible. So I figure, hell, as long as I'm going this far let's make it a K code (I can call it an "investment"). It's a great kar and she loves it. HOWEVER, she really struggles with the manual steering. Frankly, I know she would drive the kar more often if it was not so hard for her to steer. The four speed is no sweat. So I would like to konvert it to power steering. Any opinions or experience out there doing this? Any systems you guys would recommend? I know this sounds idiotic but I would like it to look stock & not have to chop the Kar up. Any other issues for me to consider? Thanks so much guys. Bill in Toledo
Hey Guys: I live in Toledo, Ohio (50 mi south of Detroit) and am thinking about having my K engine rebuilt(65 Konv). I'm wondering if anyone knows of a machine shop/engine builder somewhat close to me who REALLY KNOWS K code engines and you would recommend. The engine is sound but I'm thinking of keeping it fairly stock while looking to upgrade the performance. Thanks.
