Pictures of 1966 Sapphire Blue

My K FB was originally special ordered in 1966 in Sapphire Blue. The car is expected to be wearing a new coat of paint by the end of the month. Just wondering if anyone here has a Sapphire Blue K car and can share some pictures with me? So I can get a good idea of what it's going to look like?

I know I can look up a '66 Shelby, but since my car won't have stripes I'm trying to get an idea of what it looks like on a non-Shelby car. Thanks.

I beleive fullburn's gorgeous 66 coupe is Sapphire blue - there may be some pictures of his car on the site. Try doing a search

it is on page 2 of the gallery. if that is the same blue in the picture as I remember, it gets my vote.

Yes, these are pictures that Rob posted when he had the kar for sale. I went and looked at the kar and drove it even though it had been spoken for, even pulled my old trailer so I could bring it home "just in case". I've had these pictures saved on the HD for quite a while...

Thanks for posting those shots! Do you remember is this car had a blank color code on the door data plate and had a 6 digit DSO?

I think the pics above are a little off, like they have too much green or something?

I believe that the Kar has some green in it because of the reflection of the grass that it is sitting on. The deck lid picture looks more blue as it is not reflecting the grass.

Actually Charles, that car was spot on...I have had 4 different Sapphire Blue non Shelbys and that coupe pictured above looked the most accurate when compared to survivor Shelbys that I looked at.

The six digit code means it was special order but what was special about it as it looks like a 66 GT K Mustang?

The paint. Sapphire blue was not a standard color available on Mustangs for 1966 as it was a Thunderbird color. If you wanted this color on a Mustang, it had to be specially ordered. Although, this was the color used for '66 Shelbys.

And to authenticate a Sapphire blue car you need the MX or MIX code from the buck tag...NOT the door tag, that wont give you the info you need.
