Original exhaust manifolds

  • Still a bit off target, you are mistaking resellers/distributors with those who design, test, and manufacture. Doug's, Hedman, Hooker to name a few, do this. I'm not claiming to know if they do their own manufacturing, maybe not, but they would provide their own very specific, tested design to a supplier whose expertise is manufacturing of exhaust pipes/headers. They wouldn't go to supplier A and say, give me your version of a tri-y (or other product). Other resellers may market supplier A's version as the mass market header. Without getting into the whole relationship between companies and their suppliers that's about it.

  • i used to order firewall system cases by the pallet to my specs from a manufacturer; i understand what you're getting into, and you're just reading too much into my statement.

  • Has any one ever seen a set of late model {fox body} shorty headers on an early mustang? Ive read that they fit pretty well but ive never actualy seen them first hand.

  • This set of used manifolds <b>SOLD</b> for $190.00.

    <b>DESCRIPTION</b>:

Got these at a swap meet a while back to put on a 1965 Shelby clone I am working on, but decided to go with tri-y headers instead. I believe these came as original equipment on hi po 1965, 1966 and 1967 Mustangs and Shelbys with the K code motors. Would also fit a 302 as well and probably a 351W. Numbers on left side manifold are "D0DE-8481-A" and "1A12". Numbers off right side are "C4ZE-9430-A" with what looks like "G2" below it and "10 1 5" on the backside. A Mustang guy told me he thought the left side was a later replacement due to the part number. I am 99% sure these are originals and not repops.

This auction is for a pair of used exhaust manifolds that are in excellent condition that came off of a 1964 Fairlane Sports Coupe with a K code 289 Hipo engine. These will also fit a 1964 1/2 1965 1966 Mustang or a 1963 1964 1965 Fairlane with a 289 or 302 engine. You can see the casting numbers in the pictures.

    • Official Post

This last set of manifolds were from a 64 Fairlane. Keep in mind that the right side 63 and 64 Fairlane Hipo exhaust manifold has a provision for an automatic choke that is not used on a Mustang. It will fit a Mustang but the appearance of the manifold with the choke provision is wrong.

  • This pair of used manifolds <b>SOLD</b> for $168.50. It's hard to tell from the pictures if they are reproductions or originals.

    <b>DESCRIPTION</b>:

These squeeze right into the engine bay of a 60 on up Ranchero with a 302. They of course will fit in all the Falcons from 60 on up as well. The car doesn't matter as they will fit any of the small block Ford motors. I took the time to smooth out most of the rough casting marks and coated them with POR 15 Exhaust Grey paint. I don't know if you are familiar with this product or not, but it will keep your headers looking brand new for life! I also installed new studs and nuts, so bid to win or buy it now and bolt on and go! These run upwards of $300 retail, so you can get yourself a great deal and the horsepower gains of the header over stock exhaust in one move!

  • Here's another used pair of early HiPo exhaust manifolds (with the heat riser boss on the passenger side) that <b>SOLD</b> for $188.50.

    <b>DESCRIPTION</b>:

Up for bid is this nice pair of used exhaust manifolds. They are in good condition for their age and came off of a 1964 Fairlane Sports Coupe with a K code 289 Hipo engine. These will also fit a 1964 1/2 1965 1966 Mustang or a 1963 1964 1965 Fairlane with a 289 engine. The #1 and #8 mating surfaces have a little pitting but I think they will seal with a gasket. I see no cracks or welds. They are not painted they are natural cast Iron. I did oil them down to help prevent rust. Threads are good. You can see the casting numbers in the pictures. C3OE-B and C3OE-C. NO RESERVE

  • Have purchased a set of tri-y's, they're nickel plated, it says here. will have them on the dyno to see how they fit/perform. The nickel will get that blue coloring, I think, after run some. Comments?

  • did you spend the extra money to get the GOOD tri-y headers? last i knew, there were about three companies manufacturing a 'tri-y' header. the set i bought (middle price range) interfered with my steering and required grinding on the holes to fit right. all in all, they were quite cheap for what i paid. since engine replacement i've used hedman long tubes, and excepting their NO ground clearance, they're wonderful.

if you don't have that problem, i'm sure the tri-y setup will work great! let us know what numbers it spits out.

  • This set of used manifolds <b>SOLD</b> for $202.50.

    <b>DESCRIPTION</b>:

Hard to find 1964.5 to 1966 Ford 289 (Mustang) HiPo Exhaust Manifolds. These are wonderfully free flowing compared to the standard exhaust manifolds. These are in good used condition. They are not cracked and the mounting surfaces are smooth. All of the tabs are in good shape. There is pitting on the outer surfaces of the manifolds. The passenger side part number is C4ZE-9430-A. This manifold is cast without the heat riser port since the HP Mustangs were built for manual chokes. (HP Fairlanes had automatic chokes) The driver side manifold part number is C30E-9431-B. These are cast iron, so they are heavy. This pair of manifolds are being sold "As-Is" with no warranty implied. Please ask questions before you bid.

  • Here's a set of used manifolds that <b>SOLD</b> for $503.00.

    <b>DESCRIPTION</b>:

I have up for auction a nice pair of 289 Hipo Exhaust Manifolds that were removed from a K code 1965 Mustang. Minor rust, no cracks or excessive pitting, manifold to head flanges square, studs are perfect. A little chemical bath or glass beads and they will be as good as new. They are marked with C4ZE9430A, and C3OE9431B, both with date codes of G2 after the casting numbers. They are correct for any K code Mustang, Fairlane, Comet, or that 1967 Shelby GT350 you're restoring. I see these sell on Ebay all the time for $500 plus and they are not as nice as this pair! I've set a low reserve so good luck!
