The assembly manual shows a metal clip attached to the back edge of the RH cowl brace to hold the choke cable up. When I got the K code, one of these style clips was pushed on in the middle of the cowl edge, between the braces. I don't think it was there originally, but wondering if maybe it was for the choke cable.
Choke cable clip at RH brace

Charles,
I have seen that choke cable clip as well and tried to fit one
on my export brace with no success. Probably only used on the
cars with standard braces.

What makes this difficult is the San Jose plant was using those same clips for the engine gauge feed that runs along that brace, usually 2 clips.
-
I added one on my car. see link. The cable doesn't bend easily and it's difficult to position the clip any further aft than I have it. My car is not a San Jose car, but rather Dearborn.

Thanks for the pic. This convertible had the rubber strap on the RH side brace too. So, things were kind of "busy" over there, which is challenging trying to figure out how it all was.
Have seen some other SJ cars with the clips for the wiring on the back edge of the brace instead of the front. Dearborn was usually the back, but the smaller slide-on clips.
-
It is my understanding that this clip is the same as the one used on the RF area of the radiator support for the parking light wireing-is this in fact correct? and should a July 1965 Dearborn car have one for the choke?
-
Seen that clip on the rad support on later-'65 Dearborn cars. But, yes, same style clip.
-
Would an April 66 Metuchen car have this clip?
-
I am really wondering about this for my July 1965 Dearborn K-I don't like the cable just hanging there loose......

from Caspian65,
.......Dearborn was usually the back, but the smaller slide-on clips."
I used two of the same clip on the backside of the strut:

Should they be smaller? I didn't know there was a smaller slide-on clip.

Yes, used to seeing the smaller clips on Dearborn cars. If you found the big ones on your car and are sure they are original, then leave them on.
-
It is my understanding that (Dearborn) used the smaller clips for the engine feed harness on the back of the brace and if the car was a convertible with POWER top they added 2 more, I haven't seen these smaller clips reproduced and the originals are a bit hard to find.

We have them.

Yes, that's them. 2 for all cars, 2 more added for convertibles with power top.

We have carried them for quite some time.
-
Will they fit on an export brace too?
Phil.
-
Phil,
I tried an original on the export brace
of my 65 Shelby and it didn't fit.

Haven't ever seen one anywhere other than the brace. Big clips on the SJ cars for sure, with the wires on the outside of the brace, not the inside underneath.
