Ongoing Restoration of the '66 FB

  • Thanks for the comments guys. The car is in my garage now on jackstands. I have done some more work on the suspension, gas and brake lines, etc. I'll get some pics and update the website soon.

  • You have done a great job of bring your Kar back from the dead even though it did not appear to be dead at first glance.

  • Hey 66GTK,

There were two things that saved me. First, the guy was in a pickup that was high enough that it cleared the tank. It actually sheared the mounting screws off and the tank landed on the ground like it just dropped out of the trunk.

The second thing was I had just (and I mean JUST) filled up the tank. Gasoline won't explode, but gas vapor does. Since there was limited space in the tank for vapor, there was nothing to explode.

Someone was definitely looking out for me that day.

  • Jim,

Fortunately for me my wife does share my sentiments on these Kars however she tends to encourage me to do more of this stuff than I really want to any more.
