  • I got 4 to 5 years out of my last two dry (add the acid and charge) type repop batteries. Just bought a maintanance free one last September, not sure what the life span for this one will be but I suspect the 4 to 5 year range is probably also a good estimate.

  • I have the maintenance free battery. I've heard too much about problems with the other battery spewing acid. If it were me I'd spring for the maintence free battery.

  • I second the maintenance free/sealed battery. My 64.5 K has gone thru

one and is on the second in 8+ years, the first lasted over 6 years

in the desert SW. I wouldn't have another "lead/acid" in any of my

5 Mustangs even tho the sealed battery is NOT CHEAP: the acid spew

    makes for a MESS!!!!

I have bought my repro/sealed 24F batteries from Virginia Mustang and will continue to do so as long as I need them/as long as they are available/as long as I have my Mustang(s).

  • Hello, Mike, I purchased a MCA approved gel battery a few years ago for my K code and maintain it with the Battery Tender, no problems, it always is charged and starts when I want it to. Best of Luck.

  • I got the maintenance free battery. It was $260 with shipping.

I have a battery tender and have used it for years now. I found a lot of vendors do not stock the battery. When you order one, they have it drop shipped to you. I bought mine from Shelby Parts and Restorations.

Thank You For the all the feedback.

  • Is this battery the same as the one that Antique Automobile Battery sells?? We bought one for our '57 Chevy (seald) and I wasn't under the impression that it was gel???
