    Ah, a pic of the homeland....home is where the heart is: some decades have passed since leaving the snow, salt and "cancer" and

    I've amassed a 5 Mustang "string" which is totally rust free. In S.

    Arizona the "horses" are out in the streets all year long and are

    limited only by another "cancer"...the mileage factor in classic

    insurance!

    Merry Cchristmas from S. Az!

    <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    In the past I've owned 3 K's....6S 008, 6S 744 and

    5R09K153803: all 3 are still giving me pangs of

    remorse esp 153803 as I owned it twice and the end

    result of the second sale was the unibody only ended

    up somewhere in Ca at last report.<img src=images/icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>

    At present I have an overcrowded "horse corral":

    1) 1964.5 07 K

    2) 1966 09 A

    3) 1982 GT T-Top)

    4) 1986 SVO

    5) 1993 Cobra

    6) 1991 Toy 4 Runr

    7) 2005 Hyundai Accent

    Someday soon, with retirement looming in the near

    future, another Mustang or 3 will end up on the

    sales block....a very revolting developement!

    <img src=images/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

    I have read with interest this whole thread and must

    add my .02....

    I've been in the Mustang hobby since the mid 70's

    and have noted the decline of most repro quality. There

    for a while I made do with all original parts but, as

    the years have RACED by....where have they gone???....,

    that supply has dried up for the most part. If I

    remember right, ACC has been THE carpet I've used in my

    numerous restorations. My last 09 K, had it for over

    15 years and I've rued the day I sold it ever since (that

    was 10+ years ago!), was a dream when installing the carpet.

    It literally fit like a glove and there was no lack of a thick,

    lush, black weave. My present 64.5 07 K was done most of 10

    years ago and that carpet was no worse in quality. My last

    resto, and I think it WILL be my last, is an 09 A and I'm

    now caught up in the crappy fitting, see-thru junk to which

    everyone is alluding. What everyone has been going through

    are now my problems and I don't want to end my restorations on

    s REAL SOUR note! It sure has set my scheduled finish time

    aback...and I want to get this 66 fb on the road and enjoy it

    before I get too much older.

    Keep up the pressure guys!

    I certainly agree that those of us who grew up with the 1st

    generation Mustang and those of us who still hang on to

    them were/are SO LUCKY to appreciate something so uniquely

    part of history. My 64.5 K coupe and 66 A fb are to me as

    my Grandfather's '29 Model A was to him: he was SO proud

    of that little 2-door coupe and I caught the same feeling

    when that first fastback came out!!!!

    Since that time the Mustang success road has had a few bumps

    and, it seems the last(?) ones are the biggest...there may be a

    pun there. The latest, a "beached humpback baby whale", may

    be popular with the later generations however, IMHO its too

    big and too much a conglomeration of so many lines that it is

    lost to me!

    As a side note, the financial downward spiral that now holds us

    and the world may be too much for a BLOATED Detroit to survive:

    BOTH management and the UAW have it in them to pick up their own

    industry without having another $25 billion bailout going down

    the drain. So with that, there are 2 strikes against Ford and

    the name Mustang may well join history and come to an end.

    IF that happens, it will be a SAD day; not so much for the latest

    design but for bringing down the original, simple and simply gorgeous first model years!

    Is your K a '65 or an on-the-cusp '64.5; alternator correct, '64.5 engine compartment horns or '65 front radiator? I've got a 10 June 1964 Dearborn born 07K so I was just curious.

    And 50 miles north of SF, could that be Santa Rosa? That was my old hometown back in the '50/'60's ending with a junior year at Montgomery HS.

    Good luck on the sale!

    I got it too....someone fishing for scam victims<img src=images/icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>.

    Does anyone have a particularly nasty worm to send back

    the fisher?<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

    <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Real sorry about your failure! The way Ford engine

    parts are going for now, it's not going to be cheap

    to get it going again....

    I don't have any data but, I had my 5-bolt 289 K

    rebuilt with the bores +.030 and once the outside

    temp was 95+, cooling was barely marginal. Had to

    use a 3-core high efficiency radiator which should

    be run with the hotter running 302/5.0 retrofit

    engines. Still runs a bit warmer than normal but,

    cooling is better. My thots are one or more of the

    bores has spots approaching min thickness and the

    water jacket is super heating, steaming at that point.

    Those spots would be the best place where cracks, fails

    originate. That doesn't totally negate the fact that

    it might have been unrelated to bore thickness, just

    a metal failure.

    <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Would the complete PN's be C4ZA 6A030-B (R) and

    6C041-B (L) for the saddles? Among all my spare

    parts as well were 2 insulators but not the upper

    and lower pieces. Guess I'd be searching for the

    proverbial needle-in-the-haystack to complete this

    set.

    64.5 07K has the correct original mounts thanks to

    Shelby 6S 744 donatiing its mounts in lieu of normal

    V-8 mounts.<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

    <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    I'm in total agreement, and Ford is getting their cut

    from quite a few none-to-concours parts. It MIGHT

    show what Ford is really after....a money grab, not

    so much interest in keeping the old Mustangs on the

    road.

    With this in mind, I think we should be showing

    our wholehearted support to those good vendors who

    supply us and who are struggling to keep the name

    "Mustang" in their company title.

    <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    My bad, Brant!

    I just found the billing from Mustangs Unltd. with

    the rear brake line bracket included. Your order,

    including the 66 AM/FM radio--what a beaut!!!!,

    came in about the same time... <img src=images/icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Your standing as an excellent vendor is hereby

    reinstated, shouldn't have been impugned.<img src=images/icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Ned<img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Tucson, Az.

    Thank you for the quick come-back. NPD it is.

    Past experience with Viginia Mustang led me to them

    and I will be even more carefull in the buying of

    repro parts from now on. I could have made the

    pre-bent piece of strap iron they sent me: it even

    had a round hole which would have made it more

    dificult to tighten the connection at that point.

    They did credit me for the price when I voiced my

    displeasure in a phone call. Oh well, live and learn.

    Again, thanks!

    <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Might anyone have an extra, original brake line

    bracket which terminates the front-to-rear brake line:

    it's located outboard of the driver muffler body mount.

    Am changing a transverse single mufflered A-code '66

    fb to a dual muffler setup.

    <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Have had the Pertronix replacement for the dual pt.

    setup in my K more than 8 years and the only hicup

    was when the "+" Pertronix wire to the distr. popped

    off 300+ miles from home on a Sunday afternoon

    following a car show.....everything went QUIET except

    my mumbling, anong other things, "now what?" The fiz

    was to squeeze the pop-on cnn and press it firmly back

    into place.

    With the combination of the Pertronix and the bolt-in

    5-speed T-5, that old HiPo gives me almost 25 mpg...

    well, mostly the .67 OD does.<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

    <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    peep! Any louder and my 3 thomits will jump into

    hunting mode....!

    In S. Korea, 70-71, we had the same saying but we

    shortened it to S.A.T...almost like text messaging

    now.

    Thanks for getting back to me. I'll have to see if

    the address will find the old hulks resting place.

    Do you still have the drivetrain/parts of it: I

    suspect you've put it to use by now or sold it?

    <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

    I've run into a part problem with Mustangs Unltd. lately when I needed a dual exhaust brake line body bracket. Their price was $5.95

    and what they sent me was an 1/8" thick, 1 1/8" wide strap with a

    round hole for the brake line connector hold down. I immediately

    called them and said I was sending back their "bracket" and wanted

    my money back as I could have made the same thing for pennies and

    wouldn't be any farther from original than their part. Got my money

    back AND the part as it would have cost them more to ship it back

    than it was worth. At least they were ok with realizing some of their parts aren't close to original!

    Charles, other than a junkyard of classics, where can I get the above

    bracket to change my V-8 single, crosswise muffler to a true

    dual muffler with the full length dual muffler brake line?

    Thanks for any source.
