Dual Muffler brake line bracket

  • Might anyone have an extra, original brake line

bracket which terminates the front-to-rear brake line:

it's located outboard of the driver muffler body mount.

Am changing a transverse single mufflered A-code '66

fb to a dual muffler setup.

  • I did the same thing on my daughter's 66 restomod coupe ('91 GT EFI & AOD - with duals).

I used the NPD bracket and it fit perfect - remove the rear seat - locate the stamped locating ridges in the floor pan - drill 2 small holes in the floor pan - have someone hold the bracket against the pan from the underside (USE GLOVES!)and plug weld it in place from the inside - looks almost factory! You could even bolt it in place if you want.

  • Thank you for the quick come-back. NPD it is.

Past experience with Viginia Mustang led me to them

and I will be even more carefull in the buying of

repro parts from now on. I could have made the

pre-bent piece of strap iron they sent me: it even

had a round hole which would have made it more

dificult to tighten the connection at that point.

They did credit me for the price when I voiced my

displeasure in a phone call. Oh well, live and learn.

    Again, thanks!

  • In response to 64.5 07K, please note that we have never handled this bracket. You could not have purchased this particular part from us.

  • My bad, Brant!

I just found the billing from Mustangs Unltd. with

the rear brake line bracket included. Your order,

    including the 66 AM/FM radio--what a beaut!!!!,

    came in about the same time... <img src=images/icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>

Your standing as an excellent vendor is hereby

    reinstated, shouldn't have been impugned.<img src=images/icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • OOPS!...

NPD owned up to have nothing even close to

concours, just a bent piece of strap iron with a

round hole instead of an octagon hole for the brake

    line fitting.

    The search is still on....

  • Sounds like YET another part is being produced to "cheap" or China quality standards.

Keep looking around I'm sure you can find a bracket with the correct "D" hole. I do have to say that beyond the "D" hole for the brake line it is just a bent piece of metal with an angle cut on one corner.

  • I'm in total agreement, and Ford is getting their cut

from quite a few none-to-concours parts. It MIGHT

show what Ford is really after....a money grab, not

so much interest in keeping the old Mustangs on the

    road.

With this in mind, I think we should be showing

our wholehearted support to those good vendors who

supply us and who are struggling to keep the name

    "Mustang" in their company title.
