  • Nicely done. I am curious though - I thought Moss Green was a '67 color? My '66 is code R, Ivy Green, which is what I always thought your car was. Anyway, I am sure you know and if the tag has the Moss Green code then that is what it is, but seems peculiar for a '66.

I believe it was possible to order color Y on late 66 cars. There was a very late 66 K at the 35th that was Moss Green with the matching door tag. I too thought Troy's car was Ivy Green...

  • The data plate says Y7, but who knows what color the car is actually painted....When I got some touch up for the underhood area I had to mix the current PPG Ivy Green and Moss Green together to get the right shade, as it is probably somewhere in between since the repaint... My car is a late '66, which also had the original late 66 style washer bag still in place.

  • I like the new angle for the shot of the Kar.

  • Due to differences in monitor calibrations, color temperature during the shooting, and other factors, there is no way to tell a proper shade of a car from a typical photograph. Of course, our eye perceives changes in color temperature when looking at a real car in the sun, haze, clouds, etc..

I think you would have to put two original paint cars side by side in the same lighting at the same time to tell the difference, no?? I think the Moss Green is lighter and more metallic than Ivy Green from the paint mix I got from the current PPG paint codes. Like I said before, my car appears to fall somewhere in between, but leans toward the darker side. In full sun, that's a different story. I try not to shoot in full sun, so that's why my pics all look dark and deeper in color.

    Check these out:

'67 DMG, looks just like mine in the sun.

Anybody confused as I am yet!?!?

  • What interior did this Y7 have - I'll bet Ivy green/white??? Seems that was a popular combination...Both cars look great next to each other. I wish I had been there, as we would have represented!!

Do you have any more pics of the 2 cars together you can send me? I am having a hard time seeing the difference on these examples...

I think that is the only one I have but will have to look through my 35th pics to see if I have more. I know I at least have the originals of these scaled down pics I can send.

I honestly don't remember but I think it was black standard.

  • World of Wheels was last week, and "Ivy" took an "Outstanding in Class" award. I was thrilled, and surprised. My "driver" took home some really nice hardware in the past 6 months at the shows, and I've been very surprised and pleased. It's fun going in with little or no expectations. I can't imagine how stressful it is for those of you who have real nice show cars that really like to compete. I saw a lot of frustrated owners over the weekend that didn't get the awards they were after...
