I do not see the normal upside down A with an E marking on this cam. I have my doubts as to its originality so do your due diligence on this.

Quote from Math

Hi Fred, what do you think about this camshaft? Good to rebuilt my engine?

Thanks

I have had a fair number of original cams such as this. I always have my local cam grinder, who has been doing these cams for over 40 years, regrind them to stock specs because they generally have slight wear on at least one lobe. Camshafts are the one thing in the engine that is under high pressure between the lifter and the cam and can scuff the cam when first starting the engine in the morning. The proper engine oil has to have agents such as ZDDP in it to preclude this from happening. Most current motor oils do not have this as ZDDP is not good for the catalytic converters used in modern cars.
