That’s a rare beauty. My dad had a T5 sometime in the 70’s. A ‘66 coupe, inline 6 with a 4 speed.

I believe when I researched it I read the core was US made and ground at comp cams. I also read elsewhere that they’re not US made, so take from that what you will.

I used this cam and lifter kit CL31-110-5 in my rebuild. Had to wait around 5 months for it though so there’s that to consider. This was back in ‘21-‘22, I don’t know if things are any better now.
I’ve no complaints, I use Joe Gibbs oil, cam break in was no problem and the motor runs great.

Hello Mike, welcome. that’s a pretty rare Mustang you have there. I have a black ‘67 K code fastback 4 speed, black deluxe interior too. The original colour was Sauterne gold though. Good luck with whatever direction you go with the build.

My kar has a few skeletons in the closet too but like you I doubt I’ll ever completely find out all the history, but it’s fun trying.

Have you adjusted the linkage? Is there any free play in the clutch pedal and how high is the clutch pedal, level, above, below the brake pedal?

I don’t see any problem with going with the crate motor. Like you say it’s not numbers matching. Maybe you’d find that block one day? You could also piece together a hipo while enjoying the crate motor.

It’s not much help but I remember seeing online a blue K code fastback quite a few years ago, I can’t remember what county it was in but definitely in Northern Europe. I’m pretty sure I saved the pictures, I’ve been looking but not found them so far.
