Wimbledon White with black pony interior. Numbers Matching 52,000 mile car which is documented on the title. This is a real show car and is a documented multiple best-of-show winner, this car comes with 7 historical competition trophies, original 1966 owner's manual and Hi-Po equipment specifications guide. This is an immaculate and nearly flawless example of a high-performance ragtop GT Mustang that can be driven, shown and enjoyed for many years!

This Hi-Po underwent rotisserie restoration in 1985 and has been driven about 2000 miles since then. The car was rebuilt with NOS parts during restoration and starts and runs like new; there are no leaks, no smoking, no oil burning and all engine parts (carb, distributor and complete drive train) are correct and original, including dual-points ignition and all platinum spark plugs, rotor, cap & wires. This 4-Barrel 289 CID comes equipped with the original 4-speed, 3.50 axle, rally pac, 8K tach & clock, styled GT steel wheels, front disk brakes, chrome locking nuts with Bias Ply tires. All the lights and instruments are in working order and yes, the taillights do turn on with the fog lights. Convertible top is like brand-new, tight and clean and comes with a boot as well. For those Hi-Po and GT guru's out there - you will be pleased

In short - It’s kept in humidity controlled room and Everything is in excellent shape – please look at the pictures -

As you can see from previous threads, this "immaculate and nearly flawless example" which "underwent rotisserie restoration in 85" has had the back end replaced. Check out this pic worth a thousand words :

  • The door tag is a reproduction. I asked the owner if he has the original door tag and buck tag and he does not have them. It seems that as these cars age, past changes do not appear in the ads for selling them. Examples on this one are the rear clip replacement, color change and pony interior added. This car is now being represented as an as built number matching car which it is not. Do these seem like just minor oversights to anyone? Now I feel that all of this also brings its GT status into question as well. The ads always mention that the rear lights turn on with the fog light switch but this is not really much of a test for GT status as it is only one of many.

  • Belmont is 100% correct - it is a plate from a single exhaust car.

The HiPo and "true" A code GT dual exhaust plate should be a "smile" shape __/ <img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>at the top visible above the axle housing -- NOT a frown shape/--<img src=images/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

The shape of this plate is covered in Tony's book and has been discussed here MANY times. Including many posted pictures of the correct plates.

We frequently discuss this "re-body" topic here and how the true history of modified and incorrect cars gets "forgotten" over time and ends up cheating people.

Only the guys actually doing the "re-body" think it is OK - because they stand to make more money! Just like this guy conveniently forgetting to say that the car had been cut in half!

  • I didn't realize that the snubber plate was determined by the type of exhaust (single or dual) I thought there was a plate for typical 6 cylinder and standard V8 (A & C code) and the one for our K codes was different because of the 9" rear end??

The design started with the K code, with the rear build up-section being unique to the K, which had dual exhaust as standard equipment. The section carried over to dual exhaust A code GT's also.
