To the best of my knowledge, Ford did not offer a rubber strip for the top of the upper radiator support for 64 1/2-66 mustangs. I do see them on 67 mustangs. Does anyone know if they were installed, factory or dealer option, on 64-66 ponys? Thanks, Ed

That rubber strip was standard on 6 cylinder cars for 64 to 66.

Is there a known reason why they were put on 6 cylinders and not 8?

1967 STANG OWNERS AROUND HERE HAVE THE STRIP AND THEY HAVE V8 ENGINES. ONE IS A 390. THEY BELEIVE THE STRIP IS TO HELP KEEP ROAD DIRT OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

My '68 Cougar had the factory heavy duty cooling and AC - AND the rubber strip.
It is possible that '67 and '68 Mustangs did too - especially AC or bib block cars.
I agree with J_Speegle - it was used to improve the airflow into the radiator.
