K-Code Driveshaft issue?

  • Hello Everyone,

I recently bought a K-Code driveshaft on ebay and when I got it, it didn't have any balancing weights on it. I checked the 5 other old non-k mustang driveshafts I have and all of them have weights. Can anyone tell me if this is junk? I have never heard of a shaft without balancing weights. Thanks for your help. Chris..

  • I am no expert on this, but it seems to me that, if you are sure it is a correct drive shaft, you'd want to clean it up and have it re-balanced anyway before using it.

  • I usually have all of my drive shafts retubed during restorations because you end up with a new looking shaft rather than a pitted and cleaned up one.

Right. It does not cost much to get it cleaned and rebalanced. Mine is quite pitted after forty years here in the north, but I cleaned it up, had it balanced, put new U-joints on it and it is pretty nice.
