Wobbly Clutch Pedal?

  • Hi all.

I've just noticed that my clutch pedal moves to the sides about half an inch (12mm). Is this normal or is something loose? I don't want to drive it until I find out, I'd hate for the pedal to come off mid gear change.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Rene,

It sounds like the bushings in the clutch and brake pedal support are either worn or missing. Worse case would be that the main bushings in the support are broken loose. There are ball bearing conversions that will fix this problem. It will probably not break and leave you stranded but I would fix it soon so that you do not damage anything further.

  • One thing to keep in mind: unbolt the clutch stop from the pedal assembly to allow you to remove the large return spring on the clutch. If you try to do it any other way you will hate life.

  • Hi all.

Thanks for the ideas. I have got the new bushes. Does anyone have a diagram showing how I replace the bushes, ie what to unbolt? I am not mechanically minded, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
